Please help me connect to PSN

I already have a router, and have connected it to the hub in the hostel. Internet works fine, but I just think they've blocked the prots needed to access the PSN from a PS3, as mentioned in your link too. And if that's the case, I'm horribly out of luck, as it can be fixed only from the main modem in the institute. And I can't even request the system administrator for it, as we are not even allowed to have internet in our hostel rooms. They've just given connection to a computer room in the hostel, and students secretly connect their routers to a hub in the computer room, and distribute the internet among their neighbours. Shitty place this is. Am very frustrated now. I don't know how I'll pass 2 years here.

:scratchchin: I guess your only hope is to get an internet dongle.

I had the same issue last week. Not able to connect to PSN, though the internet was working fine and I'm a regular user of PSN. I called Sony Service centre with the error code . They said it may be of low internet speed or maybe the server is down. That means the problem is with ISP. He asked to restart the router/modem and the PS3.

I do the same with of no use first time. Then I remove the option of Auto Sign-In into PSN. Again restart the Router first followed by the PS3. After few minutes checked in the internet settings ->test connection where it show 'success' for ip-address and internet connection but 'failed' for PSN. But suddenly to my surprise when I retest the connection it shows success for all. Then I manually Click on Sign-In in PSN and it connects automatically. From then 5 days are passed and no issue with PSN. I do connect manually everyday.

I dont know whether this will help u or not but it was my exp.

^ I don't have auto sign-in enabled. I'll try restarting my router, and then PS3 tomorrow. But I doubt that will help, as I don't even know how many network equipments are connected between my personal router in the hostel, and the main modem in the institute. And it's obviously not possible to restart them all. It's not as simple as a home networking scenario.

A really disappointing update. Assuming that my college/ISP must have blocked the ports required to login-to PSN, I tried connecting my PS3 to a free proxy server(see here for more info on this), using the list at HideMyAss. It connected to 2 of the servers, internet browsing was manageable/fine, but still no PSN. Since my PS3 was connected to a proxy server, and internet was working with that connection, I think the chance of the ISP/College blocking PSN have now become slim. It's most likely some problem IN my PS3, maybe something due to the last firmware update(as there are some other people also with similar problems after a firmware update). :fogug:

  • 1 month later...

I recently went home, and tested my PS3 there, and PSn worked there. Hoping that Live would work I brought my 360 here(touched it almost after a year), and guess what, that also doesn't work here. I am seriously contemplating selling both my PS360 after playing some of the console exclusive games that I haven't yet played.
