Thank you everyone, it's been about 4-5 hours and I still haven't ventured out of the haven :fear:

Mage it is, but the first boss fight made me consume all 8 potions. Which auto-refilled, lots of new things in this game :fear:

Zodak, you nub-cake. Do not go for Knight-Enchanter specialization. Dingo is right. The specialization is way overpowered. You become invincible, have no challenge, and it gets real boring after a while.

You can actually solo highest level dragon with that specialization. I won't recommend it at all.

Here, killing Highland Ravager dragon - SOLO.

Tips: I'll just quote my last post.
  • Leave Hinterlands as early as possible.
  • Get your mount as soon as possible.
  • Do not see through skulls (icon on map) if you are not planning to collect shards. Entire map will be bombed with shards if you look through the skull.
  • Pick you class specialization as soon as you get that quest.
  • Complete Astrarium puzzles. You get nice loot.
  • Play it slowly. The zones are huge with lot of fetch/silly quests. Rushing or doing them quickly will make your journey tedious.
  • Focus on the main plot last (after your reach SKYHOLD). It's very short and bland. You don't want to finish it before completing other zones.
  • Talk to every one after finishing a mission.
  • Press V (search button) often while exploring.
  • Collect everything.
  • Craft whenever possible, but do not waste high level mats on low level gear.
  • Check war table often (after every quest is over).
  • Do every companion quest.
  • Change your party after a while, just to experience every character.

You can refill potions at camp for free.

Spend point on Barrier skill. Also, get Elegant Defense and Guardian Spirit (passive. You get +3 Constitution and a protective barrier is placed around you when you are injured badly.)

Get Frost Step once you have enough skill points. It's very handy during boss fights.

Done sir.

I fear I'll wear out the search button (L3 on the ps4) on the controller since it has a very short range. Ok I'll leave Hinterlands as soon as possible, but why if I may ask?

Don't know anything about skulls or shards but will remember them.

If you want a nice challenge, Reaver Warrior is a lot of fun to play.

Once you figure out how to play it.

Dual Dagger hits like a truck. Dual Dagger + Tempest is a formidable combination.

Remember that your passives are universal and not weapon dependant.

Zodak, if your idea of fun in an RPG is putting up barrier and spamming Spirit Blade, mate, I have some bad news for you.

Thank you mate, your hints have been helpful. After about 5 hours I've travelled to Val Royeaux, will proceed slowly. I'm taking it slow about 11 hours in.

One thing I surely miss is that you cannot set tactics like you could previously. Like if I want my  Inquisitor to gather attention at the start I cannot "program" it. Everything's auto-triggered.

^ Hasn't tactical camera been brought back?

sent from miG

Well tactical camera indeed, but it doesn't satisfy the needs in this particular case. Doing the same set of commands at the beginning of every fight is tedious. Or doing it automatically when an action is triggered.

Yup, that really sucks. They removed tactics options of DA2. That was one of the few good changes in the sequel.

So it's like a half-arsed copy of what we had in ORIGINS?

Yup.

Tactical Camera is there...but the No. of tactics that you can assign has been reduced by a very great extent...when i first started playing i was searching for it and was a little disappointed it was not there like it was in DA :Origins...but to be fair it does not take away the experience the game has to offer!

So about 25 hours in and have just reached Skyhold. I'm liking this game a lot (apart from preset tactics), great graphics and feels like there's a lot to do and learn in various aspects.

Hope it stays the same
