Dragon Age: Inquisition isn't open world, is “multi-region” says BioWare

Open world' I think is a really loaded term, because everyone immediately thinks of Skyrim and assumes everything will be exactly like Skyrim," he said. "In our case, there are extremely large regions you can explore. It's a multi-region game, which means that you'll be traveling with a world map.

It has elements of open-world for sure, but it’s something closer to the feel we had in the Baldur’s Gate or Origins.

Will there be any cameos by the cave from Dragon Age II? The infamous cave?

Laidlaw: Oh, the cave. No, I don’t expect that cave will return. I think we’ve probably used it enough.

Dragon Age: Inquisition first look

PCG258.pre_dragonage3.followers-copy-610

Dragon Age has never had the same sense of direction as Mass Effect. Its sci-fi stablemate was a point-to-point race through a single narrative, escalating in scale as success translated into publisher support. Dragon Age: Origins was, in many ways, the last game from pre-EA BioWare, an oldschool fantasy RPG that grew organically over a protracted development period. Its popularity seemed to catch the studio’s new publisher off-guard, leading to a sequel that – while it retained much of its predecessor’s soul – lost all of its scope.

‘Origins-style’ scope doesn’t mean oldschool, however: what I’ve seen of Inquisition indicates a modern game that wears its influences – and ambitions – openly. The first area I’m shown is an open-world take on Ferelden, an expanse of fields and frosty mountainsides that suggests that the success of Skyrim hasn’t gone unnoticed. It’s still Dragon Age, however, and the party-of-four system and adjustable third-person perspective all reflect that. Combat is broadly similar to Dragon Age II, but the pause interface has been improved to allow for more fluid issuing of orders before time resumes. You’ll still be able to program friendly AI behaviour, but this wasn’t shown.

Guys I have bad news. Dragon Age 3 story has been leaked. You start as a lone warrior and collect companions like pokemon until you have a full party and then you defeat the imminent threat to the world that was patiently waiting for you to come along and ruin it's plans. I'm so sorry.

SHHHH! SHUT UP!

*also you forgot about the part where you can stuff your pokemons companions face with sweet cakes to make them like you better least they run off just cause you are not charming enough to make them believe desecrating magical ashes isn't in everyone's good interest...
