How do you tell which side missions give power and which don't?

Open journal, select mission. You'll see power icon on right with number.

Don't forget rifts. You also get +1-2 powers by closing it.

Is crafting only way to get new armor or weapon in the game? ..Iam level 5 and still using DLC armor...

No. You can find rare gear in Hinterlands and other regions. Even couple of unique weapons are available in Hinterlands (kill the boss).

And why there is no sprint button in the game ?

You are already sprinting.

Check Valammar. South of where you meet Blackwall (I think). It's cave, sort of. Bigger on. You need a key to open.

To do that, travel south-west. You'll find forest villa. There at 2nd floor you'll find a boss (easy one). You'll get either unique weapon or armor. You'll also find the key near by.

Use the key at Valammar door.

Once inside, you'll find 1-2 bosses. You'll get unique armor / weapon upon killing.

You can find 'Wrath of Lovias unique' staff in Witchwood. Far north. Easy to find. You'll see bunch of ice stones outside. It's a cave. Go inside, kill the mob, get the unique staff.

_

You can buy couple unique/rare gear from merchants in Redcliffe and Val Royeaux.

Explore guys. It's RPG. Not pew-pew action.

Don't forget to claim Red Lyrium weapons on official site. Level 3, unique, has rune and excellent stats.

Edit: srinivas1015, I just found this merchant. If you don't like to do side-quests, buy some books/agreements/etc from this merchant in SKYHOLD.

You get +10 power for 1670 gold (167/each book).

i keep getting this message while trying to pay through paypal

Probably some issue with card linked to Paypal?

Are you trying to buy from Origin Mexico? If so, make sure hola/proxy is disabled. They might flag your account and you'll have to contact them to fix it.

One of the best. Whenever I login, I simply wait and listen the music before starting the game. :D

OT

Was suppose to be like that, but instead ended up wasting my entire day. The 8.1 update is still going on btw, 14hrs in and counting. There's total of 142 updates in addition to the actual 3GB Win 8.1 update. I did the Mac OS 10.9 to 10.10 update on my 5 year old Macbook pro the other day, and apart from being free and free of CD keys, it took about 15min and couple of online account syncs to change the entire OS.

Maybe its not that surprising when you look at the shambles that the Xbone OS is in, they got one job to do and they fk it up even that.

hmmm..I keep my entire game in a different drive..C drive is only for OS and mandatory game save type stuff..

I love everything about the game except for being forced to do side-missions!! WTH!! For those who haven't played the game yet, basically there's this in-game currency called 'Power'. Every main story mission requires a certain amount of 'power' to unlock, such as one main story mission requiring 15 units of power. You earn power by doing side missions where one mission can earn you 1 or 2 units of power!! I'm guessing the power required per main story mission is only going to increase as the game goes on!!

It reminds me of mobile/tablet games where you get only a limited number of turns and then have to earn the rest by paying money or watching ads!!!

The main campaign is long enough, why artificially extend the game length???!! For people who don't have all day long to grind and just want to play the main story, this is really irritating!!

Just to add, I hope you're doing the right side-quests.

These are often very closely tied to the Mage/Templar conflict or the Inquisition itself. Things such as setting up camps in each town not only encourage exploration in each of the game's huge areas, but they give you a large amount of power themselves.

I myself don't bother with the minor side-quests but the major side-quests are often the ones that are, like I said, tied in very closely with the main plot.

(not to mention, exploring each area and finding cabins / sheds / loot is fun in itself :D ).

I'm about 11-12 hours into the game and I decided to unlock most of the characters first.

I'm running with:

  • main character (Herald) - Dual Wielding Rogue
  • Iron Bull for tankiness/2 handed damage
  • Vivienne as an offensive fire mage (who will be a Knight Enchanter down the line)
  • Varric as a ranged rogue - considering swapping him out in the near future.

Having a load of fun with the above setup :)

^Nice. I enjoy Varric's company, but his Bianca is just useless (once you level up and still plan to use him as ranged rogue). I re-spec'd his traits and tried dual wielding. He was good, but the damage was ultimately low (have 203 DPS unique and 200 DPS rare dagger) but still he was hitting only 55-65.

Currently rolling with:

Elf Mage - Fire staff and Electric skill. Offensive. Going for Rift-mage. Defense: Barrier.

Dorian - Necromancer. Fire staff. Some ice skills for freezing / combo. Offensive. Defense: Barrier before combat starts.

Iron Bull - a must and the best. Amazing amount of strength. Dual-wield. Freeze with Dorian and whirl with Bull. Shatters everyone. Have Reaver line. The Ring of Pain is an excellent skill.

Sara - ranged rogue with small amount of stealth. She's just for back-up. Have Tempest skill line, but yet to try it.
