So,I have been looking all over the internet,going through threads and reviews and all the other things related to renting video games in India.

 

In my opinion,the big companies have missed a huge oppurtunity and moreover we are missing on a great way to play games and save on money.

 

Through my research,the primary problems with rental are the following,

1)Lack of inventory.If vendor X has 1 copy of Game Y and P and Q both want to rent it.Only P gets it and Q doesnt.This is very frustrating.

2)The vendor charge exhorbitant fees.Primarily because they want to cover the costs.Understandable but not feasible from our end.

3)Day 1 renting.Basically we don't get to rent the games which are released just a day before.I agree,a few of may get lucky but 99.99% of us don't.

 

Now I believe the solution to all this lies in creating a marketplace where we(the gamers) can rent our own games and decide the price,the duration of rental and everything.It would be like empowering every game with a rental store of its own.

 

These would be the primary advantages.

 

1)Multiple copies of games to chose from.

2)Day 1 rental.As most of us finish the game within a weekend.We can put up a game for rent faster than anybody.

3)Extra income for the gamers.Gamers can earn from their games and still have the priviledge of keeping the games later.

4)It will save a lot of money.

5)Very beneficial to the gamer community.

 

For successful running of such an endeavour,I propose the following,

 

1)A refundable security deposit for renting out the game.

2)Free home pickup and delivery of games for a hassle free user experience.

3)Reputation based system in order to reward gamers that trade more.

4)Customer ability to decide the price,duration of the game.

5)Online payment system

6)Renter gets his money after the renting period

7)Any damage to the game is to be deducted from the rentee deposit.

 

Well these are the things that come to my mind as of now.Please reply with your suggestions.If a lot of people like this idea.I will develop a similar site soon.
