MightySkate
Hi guys, I'm planning to buy the ps3 from here (Bangalore)very soon but wanted to know a couple of things first: 1. Since it doesn't come with an HDMI cable, where can i find one? 2. I've heard that the ps3 if connected through hdmi will require an hdcp compliant tv...are there any such tv's here in India? 3. The 60gb model is available right now for sale so is it better to wait till next year when a high capacity model is released? 4. At this moment software releases are practically dry for the ps3, but when Lair and Heavenly Sword are released will we get those games soon considering Milestone have a good track record of releasing games on time? Can't think of any questions at this moment but will post if any Thank you in advance.
rad2689
1.)don't know about bangalore. 2.)u should only buy a hdmi cable if u have a hdtv. 3.)if u want extra memory u can easily change the hard disk urself.if u can wait then wait atleast till the end of the year . 4.)will get games when they r released in pal territories. CarbonCore
You don't have to buy those ultra high quality, gold coated HDMI cables, thats a rip-off. HDMI sends digital signals, so there's no signal loss, any 500 buck cable will do the job. It'll give better image quality than those 5k Monster Component cables. MightySkate
Got a question: 1. I have an internet connection via a lan cable, will i be able to connect my ps3 directly or do i need a hub of some sorts? 2. If i'm unable to connect will i be able to download the firmware updates released till date on my pc and then copy that to the ps3? EDIT: 3. I have a samsung 32" lcd tv (bordeaux series and it's only 1 year old), and yesterday rad suggested go for the 1.3a hdmi cable..but how do i know if my tv supports that version? if not, then if i buy any hdmi cable will it work with my tv? thank you in advance

KnackChap
regarding HDMi,any tv that has a hdmi port can be used ,1.2,1.3,1.3a are just numbers ,1.3 offers slightly richer colors,so thats a feature your tv shd have not the cable
MightySkate
Thanks KC for the reply:) just wanted to ask you something which is bothering me a little: i have the money to buy a ps3 right now, but i'm worried that since the games are so less and hard to find, that i'll get bored once i'm done playing everything..and not knowig if any new games will release on time here it'll be a bad experience for me and waste of money too.. pls advise buddy i'm confused as hell.. one more thing..so if i buy 1.3a hdmi cable how do i know if my tv has that feature? in some stores here in bangalore, they are already selling blue ray movies, but i've read somewhere that blue ray movies will require an hdcp compliant tv, i'm guessing that my tv doesn't have hdcp. Correct me if i'm wrong and thanks for your time, appreciate your help in this matter

MightySkate
games will come, thats a problem with every console in its early daysyou can play bluray movies via hdmi on any hdtv Here's an excerpt i found on playstation's site itself: NOTES: 1. Depending on the type of TV or content to be played, some video modes may not be supported. If a device that is not compatible with the HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection) standard is connected to the system using an HDMI cable, video and/or audio cannot be output from the system. Copyright-protected Blu-ray video discs can only be output at 1080p using an HDMI cable connected to a device that is compatible with the HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection) standard. here's the link: http://www.us.playstation.com/Support/PS3/...ed/default.html EDIT: This is the link to download the latest updates from but there's a strict warning that says ps3's bought ouside the US should not download it http://www.us.playstation.com/PS3/Network/Updates my question is are there any sites that provide the updates to non-us countries? thank you
