Fire Wolf
Can a PS3 be played on this laptop: http://www.everydaysale.co.uk/p-product_id...6GHz-LAPTOP.htm My friend is at university and doesn't have a TV, and wants to play his PS3 on his laptop. MightySkate
If that laptop has a VGA connection then yes he can play it, otherwise i'm afraid your friend is outta luck
CarbonCore
You can buy those external USB Tv Tuners that have Composite/S-Video inputs, although you won't get any HD resolutions, just 480i.
MarketTantrik
@FireWolf : Your friend can go for one of the Hauppauge external tuners or the Compro models. Hauppauge tuners offer the best picture quality but are not widely available or officially supported in India. Compro is widely available in India with a warranty. So that would be his best bet. CarbonCore
Both Hauppauge and Compro are available on eBay India. But Hauppauge only seems to have RF input.
reaper
You can buy those external USB Tv Tuners that have Composite/S-Video inputs, although you won't get any HD resolutions, just 480i. right ... routing the ps3 thru a tv tuner card sucks ... it gives a very low resolution on the monitor ... + black bands around the picture ... lastAvenger
Get a Netgear too I have awesome uptimes with that router. I am currently using Xbox Live on it and it works fine. I can stream my media too easily
MarketTantrik
Both Hauppauge and Compro are available on eBay India. But Hauppauge only seems to have RF input. Hauppage makes the best tuners you can buy. I have the PVR 150 (internal tuner). But even if you can get Hauppauge on Ebay, I would still recommend that Firewolf's friend goes for a Compro external model since you have better choice of models and features at various price points in India, along with the all important warranty. Warp 10!
i have been thinking of buying a ps 3 for some time now, but i am not sure if it is the right time..... pls advice.... dont mind waiting a bit longer... just want the best value for money... only the 60GB version is available currently in india right? will any other versions be launched anytime soon? if a price cut is announced soon as expected, will there be any cut in the price in india? how much of a difference does it make whether it is 40, 60, 80 or the now rumored 160GB hdd? the hdd is only to download stuff right? also, should i buy from grey market, sony india or on the net etc? no product support and warranty from grey market right? how important is that? also, i dont understand the PAL version etc? how important is that? pls advice............. much appreciated............. rad2689
currently only 60 gb ver is available in india 40 gb ver might be released as sony said that it would be released in Australasia but u never know(this is India) price cut might be announced here in december but take it with a bit of salt as a price cut of rs. 5000 was announced in july 160 gb rumour is sh*t 60 gb is the best u will get the cheapest ps3 from the grey market (currently- rs.21000) the pal or ntsc ver matters only if want to play ps2 games on ur ps3 as ps2 games r region locked but ps3 games r region-free p.s.- 40 gb ver is not backward compatible
KnackChap
only the 60GB version is available currently in india right? will any other versions be launched anytime soon? 40gb one will come for sure, when no one knows, maybe when sony india runs out of 60gb stock if a price cut is announced soon as expected, will there be any cut in the price in india? no,india got a price cut when, there was none for the pal markets. india also never got the starter pack how much of a difference does it make whether it is 40, 60, 80 or the now rumored 160GB hdd?the hdd is only to download stuff right? 160gb is BS so far.if u are buying it for the HDD,go for the lowest model and then swap the HDD(it takes 5mins) the HDD is required to boot the ps3 and also required to play games also, should i buy from grey market, sony india or on the net etc? no product support and warranty from grey market right? how important is that? depends, grey market ones are cheap but dont have warranty, official ones have warranty but are around 12-13k more expensive also, i dont understand the PAL version etc? how important is that? unless you want to play ORIGINAL PSONE AND PS2 games,it doesnt matter.
