PS3 and PSP Queries

Wireless security settings depends upon which area you live. In my case, no one in my building even have a broadband, let alone have a wireless. Check if you are getting somebody else's signal, if not then its safe to use 'None'.

Also create a US account first, that one has more demos right now. Btw, each user can create only one PSN account

Look Sam, i don't know what your complete setup is but for my sify conn they've provided me with a primary and secondary dns settings. I entered those along with my IP address and did the same on the ps3. Added a WEP key on the router and entered the same on the ps3 and now it connects wirelessly just fine with a 95-100% signal strength.

^^ Thats a good idea. @Sam: Why dont you try putting in the following settings on your PS3:

Static IP: 192.168.1.150

Subnet: same as on your PC

Gateway : 192.168.1.10

DNS: same as on your PC.

The PC settings can be found by right clicking the network icon --> Status --> Support.

btw don't try to download the firmware updates directly through the ps3, it's a pain in the a** if your internet get disconnected or the power goes off, you'll have to restart the whole process again. I usually download the firmware updates from the UK website 'cause i have the PAL version.

so on the PS3 do i have to enter the IP deails of the router or ISP?

peace

Not the ISP. We want the PS3 to act like just another computer on the network as far as the wireless router is concerned. So we will assign it an IP on the same range as your desktop PC. Your PC has an IP of 192.168.1.100, so we will use 192.168.1.150 as the IP for you PS3.

I haven't tried doing that, but i entered the ip address given to me by sify and it works. It just took me 10 mins to setup the wireless conn on the ps3.

^^ How does the subnet matter? The wireless router is acting as the gateway for all external HTTP requests through TCP/IP from computers on Sam's home network which include his desktop PC and the PS3. The router will automatically assign the subnet to all the connected clients.

@Sam: Try this first and see if it works. Else login to your router and disable the DHCP option. and then try these settings again.

^^ The restarting is a known firmware issue on the router. You'll have to do a firmware update.

Tell you what Sam, why dont you take a half day or an off from work tomorrow? I'll swing by in the evening on the way back from Worli and help you get set up.

I think GTHD demo is still there on European store.

Different user profile for different region store. Create new user profile for each store. I've made profiles with names like Eur, Jap, HK etc to make it easier.

You've got tons of stuff to download and those will keep you busy for a long time to come...

You should also check out the demos for GRAW 2, F1 CE and so on..

I personally never get tired of playing F1 CE coz you've got so many possibilities of choosing any driver but only on 2 tracks and the outcomes are fun and different.
