PS3 and PSP Queries

:panic::unsure: If it needs a step down n all.. I rather buy the PS3 in India itself...

that would be the best decision. Because that will get you the warranty for just about 100$ extra plus many times these converters aren't good in quality and may cause harm to your devices, this is especially important for something like PS3 which doesn't use a power brick and has the supply built in.

I have a NTSC U/C PS2. Unless they have modified the power handling (doubtful) you'll need a stepdown transformer. Costs about 1k. The power rating on the back of the PS3 if it mentions only 110 it means it won't handle 240. I've had the same issue with a DS bought in the US - damn thing wouldn't charge here.

@AC2

I think this link will help out a bit --> http://www.eurogamer.net/forum_thread_post...8&start=240

From all I've read up after seeing your question, all PS3's appear to have universal power supplies even when they are marked 110v.

There's even a link on that page to another site that has torn down and posted the parts from the PS3 Slim. Below you'll find the Slim's PSU.

I have an NTSC-J PS3 160gb. Got it from Singapore, but I'm running it on plain old 240V straight from the power socket with just a plug converter between them. And yes, Singapore is 230v 50Hz AC.

I think ps3 have universal power adapter

Is there any possibility to get a TOSlink to 5.1 analog RCA(6 Jacks)?? my audio setup is 5.1 but it does not support hdmi input.

i was wondering if i can output the ps3 audio via the Optical Output to analog rca straight to the Home theater. Would i need a decoder in between the two machines??

on restoring my backed up data....all my game data and dl'ed games were lost.....help

You'll just have to re-download your games and DLCs and such again right? But they'll still be in your downloads list on PSN though, so its just the hassle of downloading.

As long as you remember your PSN id's password, which one of my friends forgot. Really.

EDIT: Congrats on getting your PS3 back too!!

Yes that device u linked will actually work. though in another different way.

PS3(hdmi)>>HDMI LPCM 7.1 5.1 Multi-Channel Audio Decoder With Amplifier>>Display

the device in between will take care of outputting to 5.1 LPCM which i can send to the Home theater, and that way i wont even need to use the TOSlink.

lets see if i can find such a device here locally. thanks for the info.
