You probably don't need to get a new hard disk, the data on the hard disk is probably corrupted. Corruption can happen when the system is power-off before the hard disk writing is still going on.

PS3 have a recovery option that may work for you. After you power off your system, press and hold the power button (several seconds) when powering on. Hold until you hear a few beeps.

Hopefully after the system comes up, it will prompt that the file system is corrupted and need to be restored, as that is the usual message when the hard disk is corrupted.

the problem is the recovery menu doesnt pop up.All i get is a blank screen followed by the same error.

Does any on have the phone number of any guy who repairs ps3 in mumbai?

Or should i send it to Sony Service centre? ps3 is out of warranty

just remove the HDD and put it again so it will format, all data will go but this is a good option.

@sufyan, wait bro. wait. Here do this go to safe mode and shut down properly if that wont work then do restore default settings (the second option). Dont worry its safe, you will have your data again. Just try it
