Hi

i had purchased a 40gb Pal ps3 in April end 2008. Along with warranty i got four service coupons, one being demo service coupon valid only for three months. I wanted to know, if this is some kind of service i need to do on a regular basis or only if some problem crops up. Is it some kind of demo i need to learn from them??

Hey guys, is it ok to use any kind of ethernet cable? Or have I got to buy something specific? I was thinking of using the one that came with the BSNL modem, but I'm guessing that's a no-no. Clarification on this, please.

@Falcon:

Great buy buddy. No need for servicing. Just enjoy your PS3.

@Pyrotek:

You can use any Cat5 ethernet cable but make sure the ends are well attached. I got a 10m cable for Rs. 180.

Thanks mate. :wOOtjumpy:

Well, first of all, Im new here!.. so Hi!.. Great to be here! Im sure ill be active here!

So anyways, let me start off, Im not really a console person, So I havent been following the PS3 / Xbox360 very much.

But, I do know this, I want the PS3. Not the Xbox360.

Ok.. So here it goes..

Im still torn between spending 6k more for a PS3 from here (ie 23.5k vs. 17.5k from US), specially since I want a Region 1 for Blu-Ray movies (Shemaroo here, has all Region 1 and some Region free Blu-Ray movies, for rent for 75 bux)..

Now, If I do get the SOD issue with the PS3.

I would cost me around 35-50$.. to get a new lens kit. Im quite tech savvy, so I know ill be able to replace the lens kit myself.

And, with the new PS3's which are in stock in USA, the SOD issue has almost disappeared.

I just dont know what to do... Specially after reading up that the SOD issue can be fixed easily.

So, What should I do?..

PS3 GT5 Pack from here for 23.5k or PS3 for 400$ (+tax, ie.17.5k) from the US.

Also, I want a White PS3, so... sad.gif...

Thanks for the help!..

Hey, Well backward compatibility doesnt really matter to me, and the PS3 40GB doesnt support PS1 / PS2 games right?... Only the 60 and 80GB versions do?..

I had only a PSOne, I didnt have a PS2, so I really dont think I want to play old PS1 Games. Heh...

Any idea of the price of the PS3 in Singapore?..

PS3 in singapore is around 20K....

I willa dvise you to get from US if possible...40 Gb are pretty stable stuff...

and its always an advantage of having Region 1 for BR. Mine for that matter has played every single BR movie popped into it till date...
