Twister
Good news. I could hook you up with a sony retailer who supplies to big corporates and fetch you 20-30% discount on MRP. I will check with him if he can get PS3 or not and let you know. Dude why didnt i meet you earlier, I have recently purchased a 40GB PS3 from reliance which cost me around 24,500/- If i knew you before i would have had a chance to have a talk with you. Hope the above 20-30% discount u r talking about is on Console

Fire Wolf
^ The 5k you saved might bite you later if your PS3 gets the SOD. (Unless you frequently travel to Dubai)
Hot-Drake-Pixel
^ The 5k you saved might bite you later if your PS3 gets the SOD. (Unless you frequently travel to Dubai) I saved about 6k on my ps3 purchase from UK...no SOD so far and its been more than a year... SOD is not as obvious as RRoD. Fire Wolf
It might not be as obvious but it still exists. Like anksam, he imported his PS3 but it SODed in about 4 days. I guess it's just your luck or maybe I'm just paranoid since my 360 RRODed (it was imported) but I think I'd rather be safe to be honest. I'm tempted to get the PS3 from Singapore this weekend but then I probably would wait till Diwali or Christmas and get it from here with the warranty. Death Stryke
Well, I do have a visa there and visiting the place in a non-issue. But mostly coz I did not want a region 3 ps3. warranty n all i can avail there if god forbid something happens to it.

Out of 210+ ps3's on GI only 15-18 ps3's have SOD. And some of the members could fix it themselves at the cost of 2-3k. None of them have got SOD back. SOD is due to random QC slippage where as RRoD is due to inherent design flaw hence more obvious than SoD.

If you plan to watch blu rays of Hollywood movies on your ps3, dont think twice about getting it from singapore. I think it falls under the purview of region A. Dont worry about SOD. its just one off cases. Like HSP said, the failure rate is very low on a ps3. Well, you might not get warranty, but you can atleast get it repaired here. Somebody
It might not be as obvious but it still exists. Like anksam, he imported his PS3 but it SODed in about 4 days. i got mine from the u.s and saved atleast Rs.10k and i still dint have any problem with it. no SOD nothing. 4 of my friends imported theirs too ( 2 from U.S, one from U.k and the other from Singa) and none of them got an SOD too.... so, the problem doesn't look very common
