i got mine from the u.s and saved atleast Rs.10k and i still dint have any problem with it. no SOD nothing.

4 of my friends imported theirs too ( 2 from U.S, one from U.k and the other from Singa) and none of them got an SOD too.... so, the problem doesn't look very common

Hmm, might have to think over it. Just a case of once bitten twice shy I guess, blame the shitty 360 hardware :P

Btw HSP, can you get me that discount in Delhi? :chair:

Any info about PSN Error code "80710103". It shows every second time I try to download anything over the PSN. Also, the images get disabled on PSN whenever this error occurs. :scarerun:

If anyone has any idea, please suggest.

Thanks

That discount is not valid anymore.. Checked with the guy personally and he said he is not authorized to deal with PS3. He can give me 20-25% discount on LCD/Plasma TVs, Projectors and HTS because thats what he is authorized to distribute to corporates.

try googling it n see. It doesnt look like the error you get when u pause a download a lot and play games/watch movies etc whilst background downloading

Sweets, I also know that it isn't the pause one. :scarerun: I've searched over the net, but it doesn't show me the reason behind this particular error code. The one before it (i.e. 80710102) is due to DNS error. So, I am surmising it to be related to the same.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks again.

Okay guys, I'm finally picking up a PS3 80GB (NTSC/U). What accessories do I need? I know I'll have to pick up an HDMI cable. I own a 40" Samsung Bordeaux Art LCD TV (with 2xHDMI, 3xComposite) and a Sony HTS with one optical, one coax and six RCA inputs. As far as I know the PS3 doesn't need a stepdown voltage converter for use in India but please correct me if I'm wrong.

I'm sorry if all this has been discussed before.

1>HDMI cable

2>Optical cable

3>Standard indian power cable/Pin Adapter

Thats it your are good to go.

If you are planning to watch tons of blu-rays and other media contents(which you eventually will), then bluetooth remote is highly recommended.

I have a Linksys WRT54G. While this might be the most popular router on earth, somehow the PS3 support is shitty. I just cant seem to connect using Wifi at times. I keep getting the DNS error or some other error. Mind you, this does not happen all the time but occasionally. Sometimes it jus works. I have a Reliance 512 connection. Anyone know how to setup the PS3/router so it works smoothly? A link or instructions would be great. Thanks

Thanks for the replies people.

@Oddball... well, I own two PCs, an Xbox 360, a PS2 and a PSP. Hard to call me an Xbox fanatic, isn't it? I always wanted to get a PS3 but just kept delaying it because there were no appealing games especially in RPG section, very disappointing because the PS2 has some of the BEST RPGs ever made. However, I just want a PS3 for Blu-ray for now (mainly Iron Man, Speed Racer, The Incredible Hulk and The Dark Knight when it comes out in Dec) and maybe a couple of exclusive games.

welcome abroad dude...i think you are pretty much covered...not sure if you need two controller but if you do you are better off picking one from there...as they are cheaper and ya pick blu rays as in india one costs around 1799.

whoa!! Tyler.. that's awesome man. getting a PS3 is a gr8 idea. well i think stepdown voltage converter wont be necessary but i use it for my PS3 just to be careful. actually on PS3's back it is written 120V only. i got it from Canada. I got my PSP from USA and on its charging kit, it is written 100-240V so therefore i became a little skeptical abt PS3 and got a converter for that. but that's not an issue that u need to consider now. even if u r gonna need a converter, u can get that for cheap from India itself.
