PS3 and PSP Queries

And anything above 720p is HD, not just 1080p.

Yes, you are right. 480I/P are SD. 720p are Enhanced HD and 1080p are TruHD. Not all games/movies come with 1080p anyway.

HDTV and HD ready differ with the builtin tuner card, which is meaningless for atleast couple of years in India.

It really is a difficult call to make without proper knowledge. Both my DVD player and now PS3 can render upto 1080p yet I dont have a HD(ready) TV yet :eyebrow2: . But i think HD ready with atleast 1080i support is good enough for me as of now.

and u can get it a lot cheaper that 65,000...last time i checked it was going for 58,000 in vijay sales

No, you seems to be confused between TV resolutions. Theres no such thing as 'Enhanced High Definition'. There are only three standards, Standard Definition aka SDTV (480i/576i), Enhanced Definition aka EDTV (480p/576p), and High Definition aka HDTV (720i/p, 1080i/p). Only Sony coins the term true HD and Full HD which is nonsense, they just want to push their 32' 1080p TVs. Btw, TrueHD is Dolby's propriety audio codec which can only be used with HDMI v1.3. That's why Xbox360's HDMI doesn't support it.

More info on EDTV and SDTV ... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Enhanced_definition

@sag, video signal resolution =/= TV resolution. Check out this TV's res..

http://www.sony.co.in/product/klv-40x200a/...site=hp_en_IN_i

In specifications, see the display resolution, that's what you need for 1080p.

Samsung LA26R71B - Supports 1080i only not 1080p.

I just now mailed the customercare of samsung and Immediately I received a call from one of their executives from delhi he says that it supports 1080p but I dont think it does

Customer support in India still has a long way to go and it will never get there if they dont properly train the blokes that they employ.

Nope none so far. I've also updated the FW to 1.93 last week and downloaded Fifa 08 and Tony Hawk demos from the UK store and no probs.

I once faced a prob when i downloaded Def Jam from the US store only to find it saying it's a corrupt data :)

Why don't you try from the UK store?

You can't do anything it it tells you the data is corrupt, delete whatever you've downloaded and retry again from the UK store.
