Tyler
So I started playing this game last night (at 1:00 AM, so technically today) Forget Dead Space and RE5, those were action games, this here is real survival horror. I really regret not having played this sooner (especially since I had the game with me for 6 months). - It is scary (not in a cheap way). I am on Chapter 5 and so far nothing has "jumped" at me from out of nowhere. This is the first sign of a great horror game. It uses atmosphere, sounds and very sparsely used music to create the tension. - I'm liking the characters so far and I like the way the story is presented through the perspective of different characters. - The graphics are really good although much of the game is set in pitch dark environments. The shibito look damn creepy especially the female ones with a creepy grin on their faces (they remind me of possessed Linda from the first Evil Dead). - The controls are intentionally clunky but certainly don't make the game unplayable or frustrating. Guns are easier to use than in Silent Hill: Homecoming. The melee combat thankfully just involves bashing the enemy with your weapon and nothing more complex than that. The stealth system works rather well too. - Special credit goes to the story clues that you find/unlock along the way. They range from audio-logs, text messages and videos and really well done. - The game is easier compared to other classic survival horror games. The map is extremely detailed and shows exactly where you need to go most of the time (which is usually very rare in survival horror games). This is probably a good thing though, since I wouldn't want to hang around in an area crawling with the shibito for too long. Can't wait to play more! Ethan_Hunt
I was planning on trying out this game, but before I dive in, I need to know what's the difference between Siren: Blood Curse & Siren: New Translation?
Tyler
No difference. New Translation is the Japanese title, that's all.

Tyler
If you're playing it at night make sure you don't linger on the XMB icon for the game too long. The music is very... VERY creepy. I got spooked big time the first time it happened to me. I quit the game and was just about to breathe a sigh of relief and BAM! I was about to scream like a little girl... VERY creepy. I got spooked big time the first time it happened to me. I quit the game and was just about to breathe a sigh of relief and BAM! I was about to scream like a little girl... Yep. I just spent some time on the XMB menu and was really pleased with the creepiness starting off right at the dashboard level. The sounds were really haunting. The game itself is something else. I'd call it the "Alan Wake" of PS3. The sound effects just send a chill down your spine and those creepy-a*s shibito are even worse. The episodic way in which it is narrated is brilliant. Only thing I hate for now is the control scheme, the directional camera movement, to be more specific. It's restricted to 180 degree movement, instead of a full 360 movement. Also the grain filter, but I think I'll get past those issues because the game is so engaging. This is one of those games which commands a night-only environment, even a curtains-closed-day-time doesn't cut it. Buzz, did you get the European version or Asian? Buzz
Buzz, did you get the European version or Asian? European version, it has a long making of the game video too. where did you get it from ? I got it locally here at Origin games. Actually the shop was selling it bundled with some other game(that milestone bundle offer), but they gave it to me for 1k only since I was not interested in the whole bundle.
