Nah pause button is a good idea. At least it should be available if you are playing offline. Just freeze the game so no menus etc can be accessed.

People have a life outside of videogames.

I wouldnt mind being able to relocate stat points either but thats just never happening. I would also like to get back the upgrade materials if you downgrade a weapon. But thats also not happening. :/

I feel that a pause button takes away from the experience. And there are quite a few points in DaS where there are little to no enemies where you can safely stop.

And I've never been a fan of greatshields so I hope that they include some kind of extra perk in them to make them worth using.

I hope they release some info about the time period in which this is set soon, I think its a prequel but as "Time is Lodran is convoluted", they could be some interesting twists.

Maybe we're a lone agent against the dragons, there seems to be a lot more emphasis on the dragons and Seath.

A prequel would explain the catalyst being used for pyromancy, or they can just say that it was rediscovered.

Sony Japan is to host a "strict lottery" through which applicants will be accepted for a Dark Souls 2 network test which will be start in late September.
The first test is to be held on September 29th while the second is scheduled for October 12th. The final test is set for October 27th. Those interested will be able to apply from September 5th and taking part in the test will not cost you a penny - it's unclear if gamers outside Japan will be able to take part.

Dark Souls 2 producer says multi-player to remain lonely, indirect, also comforting
14_26218.nphd.jpg

Several new comments have surfaced today from Dark Souls 2 producer Takeshi Miyazoe on the game’s idiosyncratic approach to a multiplayer RPG. Miyazoe emphasizes how DS2 isn’t going to try and compete with or copy other sorts of multiplayer approaches, but rather focus on keeping player interactions fleeting and powerful.

It’s the sharing of emotions, the sharing of the loneliness with other people, so that you get that faint sense of comfort when you feel that another player’s facing the same difficulties in the game, but without being able to have direct contact.

Miyazoe said that several of the “core elements” of the first Dark Souls will also appear in the sequel, such as player summoning and Covenants, which were a type of faction mechanic that granted bonuses and perks to player characters. ”Our dev team’s goal is to enhance some of these elements even further, so that you still have that loose connection–how you interact with other players will be an enhanced experience, a new experience.”
