aj21
people who have been to grave of saints after defeating the boss i went out, talked to another rat and then went down the hole to pick the items and all. then started jumping down those platforms. in the middle there is an opening that led to a dead end or did i miss something? also, accidentally fell downstairs and a few zombies jumped at me and exploded. Tyler
The thing is, after spending hundreds of hours most of us are Dark Souls veterans at this point so the game will undoubtedly feel 'easy'. Imagine a first time player facing Lost Sinner or Ruin Sentinels or even The Pursuer for the first time. I think the bosses are well balanced, there's a good mix of challenging and straightforward/easy fights. The only thing I'm not liking is the addition minions in some of the fights, Dark Souls had only Capra Demon and Nito, I'm hearing it's even worse on NG+. Even I feel the game is slightly weaker than the original Dark Souls but it's a great Souls game in it's own right. And the more I'm playing it the better it gets. There's a lot of stuff that isn't readily apparent and from what I know NG+ is a whole new beast. People who spent a lot of time with Demon's Souls felt the same about Dark Souls and thought it was inferior. Every Souls game is something special and unlike other game series' it's not about sequels being better and improved over the previous games. They're all different games with their own style and mechanics. Anyway, back to the game itself, defeated Scorpioness Najka, very easy boss but getting to her is harder. Loved the area though and I got some great loot for my battlemage there (Lion Mage set FTW!). There was one other boss I faced later, I even forgot the name. It was so easy, I don't even know why it counted as a boss fight lol. Also ventured into the other Ratbros zone - Doors Of Pharros and killed it's boss - Royal Rat Authority. Died multiple times in this fight damn minions who can inflict toxic until I developed a practically flawless strategy. Also, for those investing in pyromancy, make sure you buy Flame Swathe from the dude near the final bonfire at Lost Bastille. Incredibly damaging spell with an AoE. You get only 2 casts by default but it does massive damage to bosses who aren't resistant to fire. I was able to get Royal Rat Authority down to 30% health in 2 casts. aj21
You are going the right way. Just go all the way down and survive the exploding mummies. You'll see the way to the nexy area from there. what about that opening in the middle? that's actually a dead end?
aj21
Let me see if I remember it correctly You talk to the rat king and then dropped down the hole to the opening area of grave of saints. Then you go down another hole where there are several platforms conveniently placed to go down. Then you fall to a pathway with a skeleton at the end with some item on it. Below there is a broken bridge with a chest ( I guess it was rigged too). The level you are now on has some stairs which leads to a dead end (This is the dead end you are talking about?). Drop below this level and several mummy bastards charge at you. Kill them and go left (or right, I don't rememebr ) to get access to the next area. yeah, this dead end. why would they even make this area if there is no where to go ! meaNmachine
Magic makes the game slightly easy but some bosses still need melee so you need to fall back on melee weapons. For a Battlemage build I would invest in STR/DEX/ATTN/ADP/INT and little in FTH/VIT/END. Also apart from the stats you really need the right gear for a magic build - Clear Bluestone Ring +1, Dark Magic Hood, Archdrake Staff and the Lion Mage set are mandatory as they all boost damage and casting time. I finally finished collecting all these so I can help you out. Thanks man. I have decided go for a pure magic / battlemage build in my 2nd playthrough. So finally used Soul Vessel and switched to a Faith build. And it is awesome! Heal, Lightning spear, force, emit force, wrath of gods and great magic barrier are extremely useful. I am enjoying FTH build much more than a pure melee build. I also started winning PVP duels a lot. Guys, post your current stats. ^^ Will put 10 points in VGR and END. Will definitely put 5 points in FTH for the sunlight blade buff (requires 36 FTH). BTW, I hope you guys know that in DS2 you can buff infused weapon with casting buffs. For example, I can use sunlight blade buff on Heide Knight's sword to add more lightning damage. Sunlight blade adds 50 lightning damage to the weapon, PLUS a 30% increase of the current lightning base damage of the weapon. Can't wait to try it out in pvp! ProblemSmoker
Guys how to enter into that majula PIT....?? I have the CAT ring which reduces fall damage but still every time i try jumping into that pit i die instantaneously ...
Tyler
Even with the ring you need a decent amount of HP to survive the fall. Alternatively you can wait to meet an NPC who will help you down the well later in the game. This is the intended way to progress to the lower areas.
Tyler
Yeah, I know!. In fact I had the same reaction to MANY of the places in the game. Not as much thought has gone into making the world as ds1. There are actually a lot of nice shortcuts and the level design is pretty good, not DaS1 good though. the problem is fast travel. It really ruins the flow of the levels.
ProblemSmoker
@TYler sire -- Sir i am at 50% of my health and dont have human effigy in my inventory......I am currently at Huntsman copse......Is there a way to Farm effigies early on in the game.....?? Tyler
@TYler sire -- Sir i am at 50% of my health and dont have human effigy in my inventory......I am currently at Huntsman copse......Is there a way to Farm effigies early on in the game.....?? Dogs in Lost Bastille have a chance to drop it. Also you can go back and talk to the women at Things Betwixt after you kill the first major boss (I think) and they give you a few. Apart from that, have you bought all of the merchant hag's stock? Also, looks like you're running without the Ring Of Binding. Put it on and you'll have 75% health. You can also put on the Ring of Life Protection and keep repairing it to avoid the HP loss completely. It's a bit of a hassle and I personally don't do it but it surely helps when you're lugging a ton of souls through a dangerous area. Btw anyone feel the weapon's durability reduce extremely fast? I was in drangleic castle the other day and couldn't figure out how to get in. Broke like 3 of my weapons in the process. Yeah weapons degrade faster, depends upon the weapon but in general yes they break faster than Dark Souls 1.
(A)Kira
When can we trade boss souls for weapons?
Tyler
Two NPCs are needed for that: - Straid in Lost Bastille - you need a Fragrant Branch Of Yore to 'unfreeze' him. - Ornifex - she's found in Shaded Ruins and later moves to Brightstone Cove Tseldora. Straid trades weapons/spells for lesser boss souls while Ornifex takes the more 'important' boss souls.
(A)Kira
Ok thanks. Co oped the ruin sentinels a few times, it's pretty simple with two summons or even just one. I also found that crazy blacksmith who's muttering about some ember.
Tyler
You don't get the ember until much later into the game. Another primal boss down Duke's Dear Freja, another boss who is pretty easy by itself but is aided by minions. Still, I love the connections these bosses have with the Lord Souls of Dark Souls 1. I must say the later areas are fairly challenging even for a decently leveled character.
ProblemSmoker
So defeated Queen in earthen peak in 2nd attempt.....Now to iron keep..... @tyler sir--- How much game is left after iron keep ?? I don't want it to finish So far levels have been way too short
Tyler
Can't say based on where you are because it's possible complete areas out of order. Once you defeat the 4 primal bosses it's around 50-60% completion. Have you opened the path to Shaded Woods in Majula?
