So no estus flask and no humanity meter.

What I really want is news on covenants and if they are returning (Sunbros for life) and if there are any new forms of magic. They should give us some better and more improved types.

Not sure about estus flask or humanity meter. That analysis is based on the demo.

Also did anyone notice this -- 100% physical damage block with torch?? GAF members are saying that it was Alpha footage and stuff like weapon and damage stats are decided at the last moment. Even the inventory was not shown in the demo.

Yeah I noticed that.

Also will we be returning to the painted world? The pic of those two bridges seems intriguing. Maybe before priscillia?

This is what the co-director said in Jan :

“The concept of time and the existence of time is something that will be key to Dark Souls II,” replies Shibuya. When we press for more detail, he simply rephrases the word ‘time’ with ‘eras’ and leaves it there. That’s as much as he will say, claiming that he doesn’t want to spoil the surprise for players. We’ll have to wait to see just what this clue means.

I think it is Painted world of Ariamis, but in a different time period. Or maybe the world of DS2 exists in a parallel universe.

EDIT: Where is Afty and Tyler ?? :scratchchin: Would like to know what they think about the Demo.

A parallel world seems likely. Maybe TIME TRAVELLING!!!! Between different eras of different evil guys and you defeat them all.

Also afty and tyler do seem to be suspiciously absent from this thread. A dark souls thread. WTF happened to them?

Maybe they are trying to remain spoiler free. The video did have some "wtf" moments which I'd liked to experience while playing the game.

That's it I'm not seeing anymore videos related to ds2. Anyways I don't think FROM would release many gameplay vids like this.

Tyler is not active these days. Afty didn't like the Demo I guess :P

I don't think FROM will spoil anything with the gameplay trailers. They have only shown a few enemies, no boss fights. But ya, that giant skeleton part and that bridge scene with dragons would have been a great surprise.

The hands-off demo of Dark Souls 2 that we saw was running on PC hardware.

"Yes, we will definitely put more priority on the PC. Last time, we
started working on PC after the console version was complete," Tanimura
explained. "This time, because we are considering the PC from the
beginning, you can be sure there will be more care put into PC
development."

Whereas the PC version of Dark Souls came out months after the console
versions, Dark Souls 2 will launch simultaneously on all platforms. The
hands-off demo of Dark Souls 2 that we saw was also running on PC
hardware, as well.

Pc news

Q&A

Q: The demo presented during the event ran on PC. This means there is also a PC version developed in-house?

A: The version shown before the interview actually ran on PC. If the first Dark Souls was adapted from consoles to PC, this time, it's the opposite. The PC version serves as a base from which the warranty is adaptations consoles. Clearly, the game is being developed simultaneously on different machines directly internally.

Q: You also mentioned a new graphics engine for Dark Souls II. Is it an engine taken from zero or an adaptation of the former?

A: Yes, we reprogrammed from A to Z. We have not included elements from the previous engine.

Q: Does this mean that the game could also be created on the next generation consoles?

A: Regarding Dark Souls II , the engine was not created with the next-generation Focus.
Development of the first Dark Souls was particularly long, the engine
was obsolete. It is for this reason that we wanted to start from scratch
with Dark Souls II, to be able to fully express what we wanted. I know
that the next generation of consoles are recurring themes this year, but
the potential of the Xbox 360 and PS3 has not yet been fully exploited.
This is why our attention is focused on current machines. For the moment, we do not believe in a port of Dark Souls II or in any other capacity on future machines.

All that showed on a PC running at 60 frames per second,
and it shows that now have worked from the beginning in the PC version,
which is much more polished, with better textures and lighting effects
care. In consoles have set a goal to reach 30fps, and prevent
serious falls in the rate of images that had some of the areas of the
first Dark Souls, which were almost unplayable.
