I know this is kind of stupid, but I have not played any MGS other than the first one on PS1, I loved the first one but could not get into MGS 2, So I was wondering will it be OK to start with Phantom Pain? From what I have read it is kind of about snake's past and all so............. The E3 gameplay clips got me super excited. So, any advise??

If you have a PS3, get the legacy collection and play the game in order of RELEASE, not canonically. You'd find the true evolution of the games in it's design department that way. There's still close to 2 months.

So is MGS 2 the worst MGS out there??

Not even close, 4 maybe, but you'll hear polarizing opinions. SOL stands as a benchmark even today in terms of game / level design, narrative, audio (one of the very first titles of the 128-bit gen to push Dolby Digital during cutscenes and Pro Logic II during gameplay, the other one being Silent Hill 2) etc for future designers. All this at 60 FPS, on a PS2.

I found a post of mine writing a year or so ago in the podcast thread.

Sons of Liberty rain mention gets you an extra ration and a magazine to lure all those heathens beside you in the next pod. The generation which screamed "NEXTGEN" at launch unlike any other. 60 FPS ? All f**king day long. All the 4 machines , DC/PS2/XBOX/GCN , had a host of jawdropping launch titles ( SEGA even had commercials pimping 60 FPS ). This was a time where developers showed what they could do on the actual hardware than the recent trend of spewing target render shite on your face and getting gimped in the final build. This was also a time , personally for him and the team with focus , compared to his rather hollywood'ish desperation post Snake Eater. So much reminded me of this. Hunted around 2 months to get a hold of this DVD from a mag and ZOE at launch for obvious reasons.

Do not ever miss 2, oh and inarguably the greatest opening to a video game of all time (probably Onimusha 3 comes close) , both, the intro

and the opening

I'm having a hard time playing MGS 3 HD on PS3..it's my first MGS game.. They should have changed the control schemes at least. It's the same as PS2 so it feels weird :(

Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 4

Isn't the HD version have right analog stick for moving camera ?

MGS 3 works on pcsx2? Also, playing only MGS 3 enough for MGS 5?

Works Definitely , i myself completed it . Though it doesn't look very good compared to HD version . Make sure you get subsistence version .

HIDEO KOJIMA'S NAME REMOVED FROM METAL GEAR SOLID 5 BOX ART

The saga that is the deteriorating relationship between Konami and Hideo Kojima continues as the publisher has decided to remove all references to the Metal Gear Solid creator from the box art for The Phantom Pain.

The latest pack shots were uploaded yesterday, and NeoGAF users spotted a couple of changes appear to have been made. You can see the old box art below on the left, with the new one on the right. In the bottom left of each cover the Kojima Productions logo has been removed, while "A Hideo Kojima Game" is also absent from just below the console masthead.

It's the latest in a long line of issues between Kojima and Konami. Though we've seen Kojima's name and the Kojima Productions logo pulled off the Konami website before now last we heard things seemed to be mellowing as the company was reading his name to its products Now, it seems Konami has decided against this course of action.

Of course, earlier this week the Japanese voice actor for Snake confirmed the closure of Kojima Productions so perhaps this isn't too surprising. Regardless, it's a depressing state of affairs considering Kojima has repeatedly stated he will be committed to Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain up to the game's release.

Kojima Productions' final game, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is set to release on September 1.

Don't feed the troll. Keep it hungry and it will starve to death.

So anyone preordered from amazon or everyone going for steelbook?

Going for steelbook because for some ungodly reason the default box doesn't come with Shinkawa art.
