abhi90
So off late while playing most wanted the ps3 has been failing to load the tracks fast enough and there have been instances where the road just failed to appear and I was dropped into hell. Just now there was a similar instance and the ps3 just rebooted and the red light was blinking. What does it indicate?

'Drake'
The blinking red light happens mainly for the case of overheating . maybe you can check if your ps3 have some dust in the vent which can block the ventilation. (just a suggestion)

(just a suggestion) I regularly vacuum my ps3, maybe I need to apply new thermal paste, do people do it normally for the Ps3? Will vacuum it again. Also the HDD/ BD drive makes a lot of khat-khat noise nowadays :|

The JACKAL
By now i think almost all of the ps2 compatible ps3s (80gig and 60gig EU) are dead all over the world . Mine died recently. I can get it to work if i keep switching it on and off repeatedly but its too tiresome.

No...but take back-up before removing the HDD...afaik...once you remove the hdd and put it back...the ps3 will format it when you boot the ps3 next.
