PS3 blinking red light

So off late while playing most wanted the ps3 has been failing to load the tracks fast enough and there have been instances where the road just failed to appear and I was dropped into hell.

Just now there was a similar instance and the ps3 just rebooted and the red light was blinking.

What does it indicate?

That's bad news bro.

The blinking red light happens mainly for the case of overheating .

maybe you can check if your ps3 have some dust in the vent which can block the ventilation. (just a suggestion)

I regularly vacuum my ps3, maybe I need to apply new thermal paste, do people do it normally for the Ps3?

Will vacuum it again.

Also the HDD/ BD drive makes a lot of khat-khat noise nowadays :|

My ps3 is just 6mnths old and that sound is of HDD and happens to me also and is natural probably :fear:

I have never used thermal paste of any kind..

By now i think almost all of the ps2 compatible ps3s (80gig and 60gig EU) are dead all over the world . Mine died recently. I can get it to work if i keep switching it on and off repeatedly but its too tiresome.

this happpens when the pin touches the small disc on the hard drive mainly while loading.

and it happens to many or most of us.

it is normal if the noise is not much.

but i recommend you to visit the sony service centre and i wish good luck for ur ps3 bro :hypocrite:

I won't go to the service centre till it's dead

I read that the blinking red light has to either do with overheating or HDD issues

The BLR(Blinking Red Light) :P happened today for the second time and happened as soon as I booted most wanted, so it's not overheating

I cleaned the HDD and it was full of dust, FULL of it

So everything should be fine now

/touch wood

Well the innards are pretty clean, the heat sink shines when viewed through the vents but the HDD compartment is separate and it was chock full of dust.
