Hey,

I represent a freshly initiated gaming / e-sports coverage and event hosting organization called AFK Gaming.

In our attempt to satiate the needs of the Indian and South Asian Gaming and e-sports community, we're planning to host a FIFA tournament in collaboration with an industry biggie.

However to make a successful pitch, we require a rough estimate of how many people would be interested to participate and / or spectate. Seeing as IVG has a pulsating FIFA community, what better platform is there to garner support than this?

I'm relatively new to this forum so cut me some slack :)/>

Also, feedback, thoughts, suggestions, ideas and constructive criticism are always welcome.

Make the entry fee nominal and promote the event at colleges and on facebook. Every friend I know with a ps3, owns a copy of the game. But most wont pay a lot and play in competitions. So entry fee is pretty important.

Imo you start out small and then keep increasing the prize money in subsequent competitions, that way you'll have a rough estimate of the number of participants from earlier and you can build on that.

Games, like Halo 4 and Gears 3 will attract more people, thats what i saw in the past few gaming events kept in Mumbai in some diffrent cities.

Fifa is big in Mumbai. You should've seen the line outside game4u at the midnight launch :O

yeps, same crowd for Gears 3 as well.

but i guess launch even crowd cant be taken into counting into how many people will participate since during launch events i saw many kids with their parents as well :scratchchin:/>

even if the prize money is less than 30k they should keep a tourney for atleast 2 games which will result into fans from both the game into more crowd :scratchchin:/>

Edit : And Yes Entry fee matters.

Agreed. Both are insanely popular. But game choice depends on op :P

1/4 were kids at the launch. But kids also participate in theses tournys...

College fest tournys easily fill their 32 participants quota. FIWC 2008/09 had 256 players :O

FIFA is really huge in Mumbai although more so on a casual level rather than competitive.

We're hoping to attract both sections of the crowd with activities and possible prizes not just for the winners but for the spectators and / or participants as well.

From what I've understood so far based on the events that I've attended and / or heard about, the North of India prefers to play BF3, COD, Tekken, Street Fighter and of late, League of Legends competitively, whereas the West and South of India prefer PC titles such as DotA / DotA 2, Cs 1.6 / CS : GO.

FIFA is a big deal in Mumbai especially the South of Mumbai where college kids are big football fans. They prefer to game with a couple of friends and a few beers at one of their own houses. We're looking to recreate this experience in a public place.

Memories....

BTW, @OP: Please make sure that there is a considerable gap between the time you announce the tourney and the time the tourney is conducted.... And yes, as Omar said, make sure the entry fees is kinda economical because there will be mostly college/school students...... Also, make sure it is at a place which has convenience in terms of food/snacks availability or something like stalls if it's a one-day tourney only....
