Captain Galba this is what I suggest --

Intel Core i3 3220 ~6500/-

GIGABYTE-B75M-D3H ~4500/-

Corsair Vengeance 4GB x2 1600MHz ~3200/-

GIGABYTE GTX660 2GB ~15500/- OR Sapphire HD7850 1GB ~13000/-

Seasonic S12II 520W ~4400/-

Cooler Master eLite 311 ~2000/-

Hope this helps and merry Christmas to all on this thread. Cheerio!

pretty similar to my wishlist build:

http://www.flipkart.com/wishlist/lead.viper-1014

you can cut down on RAM and go for the 1GB GTX660, but anything below this config seems to be too much of a compromise to be save money. so try 35k budget instead...

Dude u do realize that the ram u put in ur wish list is a laptop ram right?

And hows the gfx card? Is it better than ati 7850?

Bhai that exceeds my budget :/

Okay but I am not a magician, if you want the performance, please be ready to invest in a decent build.

What is the resolution you plan to play at, for how many years do you want to not upgrade (any component)?

And hows the gfx card? Is it better than ati 7850?

For starters there are no 1GB versions of the GTX660 and secondly the card is indeed superior to the AMD HD7850 2GB (AMD took over ATi graphics in 2007).

AMD HD7850 2GB vs. GTX660 2GB.

Hope this helps, Cheerio!

Ok im exceeding the budget to 35k. Actually its a gift for my bro :/

The current monitor's 17inch. I plan to upgrade the monitor in a year, and the same for the hdd. Will upgrade the gfx card after 2 years.

Do u think this bulit could last him 2 years?

You mean you are raising the budget to ~35000/-, right?

This is what I suggest in that scenario --

Intel Core i3 3220 ~6500/- OR Intel Core i5 3450 ~11000/-

GIGABYTE-B75M-D3H ~4500/-

Corsair Vengeance 4GB x2 1600MHz ~3200/-

GIGABYTE GTX660 / 660Ti ~15500/- OR 20500/-

Cooler Master eLite 311 Plus ~2500/-

APC BR700VA-IN ~3200/- (backup in case the power goes)

Hope this helps, Cheerio!

This RIG will easily last 3 years. With yearly / staggered upgrades even longer. Cheers!

Cool configuration

Ive a doubt man. I was taking a look at the AMD fx-4100 and its performance was very close to the i5-2500k. And its almost half the cost.

^^ Please show me, where was the performance very close.

The AMD processor is a quad-core and then also barely tie itself with the Core i3 series in real-world performance and gaming well the less said is better.

Intel Core i3 3220 vs. AMD FX-4300 -- This is the successor to the FX-4100 and it is basically performing equal to a dual-core Core i3 (with Hyper-Threading) which is clocked 500MHz slower than it and has lesser L2 and L3 cache memory.

A few reviews for the older processor (FX-4100) -- AMD FX-4100 Legit reviews / AMD FX-8120 / 6100 / 4100 reviewed.

When it comes to performance we were shocked to see the AMD A8-3850 'Llano' processor and the Socket FM1 platform performing better than the AMD FX-4100 'Bulldozer' processor and the Socket AM3+ platform. We quickly found out that the FX-4100 was priced this low as it needed to be. The performance of the FX-4100 wasn't awful, but we didn't expect to see the AMD A6-3650 running at 2.6GHz to beat the AMD FX-4100 running at 3.6GHz in benchmarks like POV-Ray and Cinebench!

Hope this helps, Cheers!

Thank you so much Alpha, you have been a great help :)

No issues mate, a forum is for helping is it not?

Here are the cheapest prices I could find for the graphic cards (online) --

Hope this helps, Cheerio!

Oops. Will keep that in mind. I plan to "invest" in the rig over the next couple of months. This is a great thread. Helps me a lot. thanks Alpha :kisstogether:

Also, GTX660 has marginally better performance with some caveats like you can't push it very hard on antialias settings due to limited memory bandwidth. But it's got Physx in built unlike ATI/AMD cards which reduces load on CPU. (all based on stuff I read, so my interpretation may be flawed)

^^ Reverse of what you said.

nVidia cards are well known for handling higher Anti-Aliasing settings with better ease than their AMD / ATi counterparts. It is only if you bump texture settings and the screen resolution to 1440p and above that you will realize the nVidia cards lacking in performance due to bandwidth starvation.

PHYsX is a proprietary technology that is not supported / implemented in all games and as such are useless because it can cull frame-rates badly.

Also, power consumption is also higher on the nVidia cards overall. At OP's price point the GTX660 2GB OR AMD HD7870 2GB are the best cards to be had. Cheers!

Hey guys,

I am planning to invest on a gaming rig.

My budget is 40k. And I want to invest it only on the rig

Help me out guys

From next time on, make this query here --> Gaming PC's .

I am assuming by RIG you mean just the cabinet and its innards and nothing else; Right OR wrong?

Here is what I suggest --

Intel Core i5 3550 /3470 ~12500/-

GIGABYTE-B75M-D3H ~4500/-

Corsair Vengeance 4GB x2 1600MHz ~3200/-

Seagate Barracuda 7200.14 1TB ~4000/-

GIGABYTE GTX660 2GB ~15500/- OR AMD HD7850 1GB ~13000/-

Seasonic S12II 520W ~4400/-

NZXT Gamma ~2500/-

Where are you purchasing the components from?

Hope this helps, Cheers!
