Alienware x51 or custom built ?

^^ Seems good but pricing and local availability will be a deciding factor.

Please note that Thermaltake is officially not backed up by any Indian Distributor so in-case things go sideways options are limited to jugaad OR some boot-strapping that may, may not be a sure shot solution.

Apparently they are present in India but I don't know in what capacity and if the product you have highlighted is in circulation OR not.

For more on the same --> Thermaltake India.

^^ yep thats for me to find out....i hope i can get this case.

It has got some pretty good reviews but it seems like its not a very commonly owned case for some odd reason ,not much chatter about it on the internet, which is interesting.

Got most of the stuff.

Didnt get any of the cpu coolers that you mentioned all were out of stock.

I got this one instead deepcool gamerstorm assassin.

Wasnt confident enough in watercoolers so left em alone for now.

Also the motherboard was out of stock.

So got this one

Asus p8z77 v pro costed almost 4.5 k more.

And thermaltake cabinets are quiet easily available but the armor revo gene wasnt available anywhere ,dont know why .

How much did the cooler cost you?

It is a carbon copy of the Noctua NH-D14 --> Noctua NH-D14 reviewed @Legit Reviews.

Okay, the ASUS motherboard is also good. =]

Have fun with the new RIG and may it serve you for many years to come. Cheerio!

Should i get some better thermal paste for the cooler or will the stock one do okay??

The one you got with the cooler should be good if not the best.

Got the cabinet today after waiting for 2 days got the 400r first which was dented on one side ,no other stock was there so went with nzxt phantom instead,.

Started building and ran into this issue while mounting the fan ,i think i over applied the thermal compound .

What should i clean it with???

Acetone should be okay i guess??

Any of the following should work in a pinch --

  • After-shave
  • Nail polish remover (acetone)
  • Alcohol based cleaning agent rather than oil OR any other liquid base cleaner

The trick to applying thermal paste is, putting a small amount and spreading it evenly.

Hope this helps, Cheerio!

@ alpha

Is installing washer important in the cooler back plate???

It was written on the kit tho that only for lga 775 ??

But i think i need it ?? I dont know???

Which cooler do you have?

Yes, installing washers is necessary if the manual says so and to avoid damage and the smallest chance of short-circuiting your system.

It says for socket 775 only ,mine is 1155/1156 ...

So??

Ah! Okay, follow the manual then.

For over-clocking, very much needed.

@alpha

system is working pretty good ,i was just testing out some games to make sure everything is okay and works well, but when i played dirt 3 it seemed to work well but every time i crashed into trees there were pixelated pinkish half- patches all over screen, happens every time i crash the car,so i got worried if it was an issue with my graphics card ,do i have a faulty card or is it some issue with the game???/

to stress the gpu i ran some 3d mark tests and th card performed resonably well in all of them, tending me to believe the prolem is in the game...not sure though ,just want to be sure i havent got a faulty card.

test results

core clock shows as 705 mhz, thats a driver issue i guess.
