sandy160687
Ubisoft announces Special Edition, comic book for Prince of Persia Pardon me while I take another $60 out of my wallet....ah, there we go. Back on topic. Back at E3 was where we first got to check out the new Prince of Persia from Ubisoft, and dammit, it's one pretty game. Doing away with the "enter an area, get ganked by enemies" gameplay of the past titles, the new Prince's adventure favors a one-on-one combat system and a much more open-ended (and cell-shaded!) environment. Those of you interested in the re-invention of the series, there's some good (and surprisingly awesome) news from Ubisoft: You're going to get a free "upgrade" to the game's just announced Special Edition ... if you pre-order. Gamers that drop the early coin on the title at retailers in North America wil be bumped up to the more classy version of the game...without any additional charge. "What's in this so-called Special Edition, Phil," you ask? I'm happy to answer that for you, reader. In addition to the regualr copy of the game, you will be rewarded with collectible packaging, an "exclusive" making-of featurette, a mini-digital strategy guide, a digital art book, the game's soundtrack and "much more." Hmm. Damn you for the cliffhanger, Ubisoft! As well, Ubisoft and Penny Arcade have partnered to create a Prince of Persia comic book. The expanded 32-page comic book will span roughly four times longer than the usual Penny Arcade comic and will allow the Prince's story to be creatively told in a robust, illustrative format. The comic book will also give readers a unique knowledge of the new Prince of Persia game as well as an enhanced understanding as to the relationship between Elika and the Prince. Extra stuff. No extra charge. Sounds good! Prince of Persia releases on PS3 and 360 this "Holiday." Full announcement after the jump. UBISOFT ANNOUNCES FREE LIMITED EDITION UPGRADE WHEN YOU PRE-ORDER PRINCE OF PERSIA UBISOFT ALSO TEAMS UP WITH PENNY ARCADE TO CREATE EXPANDED COMIC BOOK BASED ON THE NEW PRINCE OF PERSIA GAME SAN FRANCISCO, CA – September 2, 2008 – Today, Ubisoft announced that gamers who pre-order the new Prince of Persia title in North America will receive a FREE upgraded Limited Edition version of the game. The FREE Limited Edition Upgrade is only available by pre-ordering and will include in addition to the regular SKU: • Collectable Limited Edition packaging • An exclusive look at the making of Prince of Persia • A Prima® digital mini-strategy guide full of developer's secrets to help players master the year's best action-adventure game • A digital art book that chronicles the game's journey from concept to winner of Best Artistic Design at E3 2008 • The original soundtrack scored by master composer Inon Zur • And much more… Additionally, Ubisoft announced a partnership with Penny Arcade for the creation of a comic book based on the new Prince of Persia title. Penny Arcade, known for creating short video game-based comics, has accepted this sizable project as a response to their readers' overwhelming excitement about Prince of Persia's fresh new artistic style. Prince of Persia will be available Holiday 2008 for the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, the PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system and PC. Also available this holiday exclusively for the Nintendo DS system, Prince of Persia: The Fallen King will complement the version coming out on consoles and PC. Bulovski
The only surprise in the cover art is that they have simply called it Prince of Persia. Isn't there a Heir Apparent which has to be added somewhere?

Bulovski
Absolutely not - that was a stupid trend started with Warrior Within. POP is an enjoyable light hearted franchise. It's a miracle they managed to rescue Two Thrones while not completely going away from WW. WW had excellent action / fight sequences / acrobatics - but the prince shouting "bi0tch" did turn people off.

Bulovski
Someone put it in: Orig Shadow and the Flame POP 3d - insta ban for anyone voting for this one SOT WW TT
Bulovski
Here's my take on the 2nd trilogy: SOT - Obviously the biggest impact to gameplay with the crazy acrobatics and rewind functionality. But the combat was not polished enough. After playing WW, SOT combat is impossible to do. Also, punishing difficulty from what I remember. WW - What was UBI thinking? Babes with metal up their unmentionables, Prince abusing away to glory, and heavy metal!!! But the game survived because of brilliant combat design, crazy a*s acrobatics which can put Lara Croft to shame, and a pretty decent storyline. Also I am in love with Ma'm Bellucci. TT - The best balance compared to the other two. The story came full circle. The boss fights were simply fantastic, and who can forget the chariot ride. Also Dark Prince rules, and can give Kratos competition in the horde-busting championship.
