THQ dissolved: Studios and IP sold to Sega, Ubisoft, Koch, Crytek, Take Two

The mystery of which THQ franchises are being sold at auction today may be solved. Mere moments ago, we reported on the legal action being taken by South Park Digital Studios to protect and retain rights to South Park: The Stick of Truth, an Obsidian-developed role-playing game based on the hit TV show. Closer examination of the complaint filed in the US Bankruptcy Court of Delaware by South Park Digital Studios may reveal which THQ franchises are up for grabs.

The complaint is addressed to THQ Inc., et al., Debtors, and begins as follows: "South Park Digital Studios LLC (“Licensor”) submits this preliminary objection and reservation of rights with respect to the Debtors’ proposed asset sale . . .". A footnote on the first page elaborates on the et al. notation, which refers to THQ, Inc. and all other Debtors in question. The other Debtors are: THQ Digital Studios Phoenix, Inc., THQ Wireless, Inc., Volition, Inc., and Vigil Games

Sega really doubling down on RTSs. Guess TW must be doing well for them.

All in all, pretty good so far. Interesting that KM got what was (I am guessing) THQs most valuable IP. I didnt think they had that kind of money/clout.

If SEGA has relic I expect the studio to continue doing what it does best, RTS, RTS and some more RTS.

In-fact a love-child of TOTAL WAR creators Creative Assembly and relic to produce the next generation of RTS's is tempting even further.

Hoping Warner Brothers OR 2K take up 4A Games.

Then who will publish company of heroes 2???? :samui:

SEGA must and knowing them they will be good for relic.

I smell bi-annual franchise cooking in that department, one year to relic and the next for Creative Assembly.

And MOD Tools all around.

Company of Heroes is great RTS game.

I dont think WWE is up for sale. Its not a THQ IP. WWE will probably hand over the development of the game to another studio at some point.

Sega is probably the best thing that could have happened to CoH. Looking at Cats post made me realize how absolutely horrific it would have been if someone like Ubisoft got their hands on it. Imagine that.

I wanted to say the same but thought it would be too insulting and derogatory.

UBISOFT had World in Conflict in conjunction with Massive Entertainment wonder what happened to that.

WiC and Company of Heroes are some of the best RTS games I have played and still play.

No that remains to be seen. It is between relic and their owners (be that SEGA OR whoever). If the publisher feels that they can give the financial backing and the game will be able to hold its own they will give it the green-light.

We might see changes in the pre-order bundle, cover-art at tops if the release date remains the same.

If this is not the case and SEGA wants the developers to do more they will postpone the release indefinitely.

THQ auction rumours: Relic to Sega, Volition/Saints Row to Koch, South Park to Ubisoft

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2013-01-23-thq-auction-rumours-relic-to-sega-volition-saints-row-to-koch-south-park-to-ubisoft

The high bidder for Saints Row developer Volition is apparently Koch Media, parent company of Deep Silver (Dead Island).

<_</>/>/>/>/>/>

Dead Island publisher ? ..i hope they will give Volition full creative freedom and proper budget for SR4

Judging by the latest Collector edition of Dead Island Riptide, i say SR is in good hands.. :bigyellowgrin:/>.....

Iam happy that SR is not owned by EA,Ubi or Activision

How big is KM?..Can they fund a big budget open world game ?

*******

Why the f**k MS is not here?..Why they never spend money on buying new exclusive games for Xbox? ......But i think it's good for gamers and industry as a whole that these games are not in hands of company like MS :P/>/> ....
