achilles
How naive can you get, Sire? Transcend used SAMSUNG drives till last I checked, now that the latter has been taken over by Seagate I do not know who is the OEM for Transcend but suffice to say that SAMSUNG drives were much better compared to their competitor drives from Seagate and Western Digital, in reliability, performance and sound profiling. Yeah. Believe that makes a difference. You're totally not naive.
Bird Bird Bird
Oh it works baby. It works. And LOL @ people in this thread, discussing different brands that sell a hard drive and treating them differently based on prior experience. It's a moving part and pretty much every brand sells the same thing. It is purely usage and luck which determine the life of a hard drive. So, get over it. Buy the capacity you want a the cheapest price and let warranty do the rest. While the innards may be the same, I can (for the 3rd time on this thread) vouch for the ruggedness of Transcend. As said before, a fall from hardly 20 cms broke the head of (non running) Seagate drive. OTOH, when I first got my Transcend M2 500GB (some 3-4 years back), one of my friends accidently (possibly purposefully) dropped it from a height of a normal dining table. Worked without a hitch. Even the current Transcend M3 1TB has fallen a couple of times, but touchwood all's well till now.
