WhiteWolf
Capcom has listened to fan feedback following Resident Evil 6 andknows that the series must return to its roots going forward, evenmentioning the possibility of a reboot. These comments come from Capcom’s Masachika Kawata, a long-termproducer on the iconic survival horror series who spoke to IGN in Londonwhile discussing his latest project “I think that it’s important for us to have users’ needs in mind whenmaking the games," Kawata told IGN. "At the same time I think a lot ofwhat people want now is to have Chris and Jill in a game, or they wantit to look like Resident Evil used to look like. That’s what makes thegame work for them. We should be able to start from scratch and rebootit. It would still be Resident Evil. We wouldn’t lose the essentialnature of what makes it a good game just by changing the characters.” “Survival horror as a genre is never going to be on the same level, financially, as shooters and much more popular, mainstream games. At thesame time, I think we need to have confidence to put money behind theseprojects, and it doesn’t mean we can’t focus on what we need to do as asurvival horror game to meet fan’s needs. We are always taking in toaccount user feedback, even when the users’ are very upset aboutsomething. more here http://www.ign.com/articles/2013/01/31/resident-evil-will-return-to-its-roots

Elessar
Perhaps one more game each and then we could have similar comments about DmC and Lara Croft too.

dante77
RE ( the main series) was never a survival horror. Its spin-off titles were. Anyway, good news this. Yet to play RE6 though
meaNmachine
Thank god they realised listening to fans is important. I just want 'stop and shoot' mechanics back and remove all rolling and sliding. 'Stop and shoot' made the game challenging, and that's why RE series was always special. And i hope they don't give the game to some other Dev and make another Crappy RE game.
IshmaelIsBack
Reboot now ? Awesome. Some possible gameplay elements 1. Killstreaks confirmed. Kill 3 ganados/majini/hybrid for a BSAA/S.T.A.R.S. UAV ( indoor as well ) , 5 for supes vision through walls , 10 for unlimited inventory slots , 15 for Jetpacks a la Dino Crisis 3 , 20 for NUKE THA NIGAZ and 25 for Booty Shake ( both the sexes ). 2. Runs on Unreal Engine 4 " f**k the nextgen MT Framework. " - " BBBBBUT it's RESIDENT EVIL " - " BBBBBUT it's stupid western pimpin hipster kids we're selling the game to , and the honorable board of directors can't spare a 2-3 month delay for w/e the team to find talent for translation to english. 3. Merchant is back " Ahoy Straaanger! " FANS " of 4 think I was the greatest innovation until Lady Gaga showed up. I'll be leading you all the way on an epic journey of an industry defining concept named " timely pressed buttons simulation " , which some folks ripped off & called it QTE , where you wouldn't be needing to purchase items. So , I'm back and Sub-Zero lent me his classic mask again without freezing my balls. *stands before a possible boss battle arena* " btw straanger " " Sup bruv ? " " Today's special offer gives you 15000 p'tas off on an item named , err , RPG with one hit kill , would you mind buying ? " " NO sh*t " ______________________________ LMAO at the " back to roots " AGAIN for the gazillionth time , only Kawata this time instead of what Takeuchi said after 5. Just do us all a favor and inject yourselves with EVERY virus variation you came up with for what you asshats did to Biohazard 4 and the eventual crapfests tagging them as sequels. I don't get the people who hate on DmC to even remotely notice the monstrosity this " once an iconic IP " is going through this gen. RIP - Biohazard 1996 - 2002 ( to an extent 2003 ) , and Thank you CPS1 , you were GODLIKE.
Shadoken
Hey Capcom , how about YOU as a goddamn company go back to ur roots and make some good games. Instead of making bad imitations of horrible western titles. Capcom should hand over RE to a western developer...imo.. Visceral studios is my pick... Why dont Capcom buy EA while they are at it , its an internal studio
