Ciri is easily one of the best character in the game.. Character wise, maybe, I guess. But I don't like her. Triss forever. Red head + freckles. Gautam
Apparently they've tweaked the controls for improved character movement with the latest patch. Can anyone confirm?
Heaven Angel
After patch you can't create Mutagens anymore if you have one of them. This sucks. If you want multiple mutagens for your build, you will need to drop it first and then craft. Why even mess with it? It was perfectly fine before. -Reddit. You can't create white gull, albedo etc more than one either even though it's a crafting component. Popular Post ALPHA17
I have been threatening / haranguing and generally being an insufferable wretch about making this post happen but every time I get around to putting my thoughts in the editor, Witcher 3 sucks me back in. This sadly is not going to be a post which delves into expressing my love for CD PROJEKT RED, The Witcher franchise or why I am more interested in scrappy enterprises from Eastern Europe taking the fight to the manicured, polished and pixel perfect Western developers which have been dominating the direction of mainstream gaming for sometime (and generation(s)) now. This is a post which can be treated as a primer for those interested in picking up the title, want to know what build(s) are viable and how you can enjoy the game despite its idiosyncrasies, feel free to post / quote / question anything that makes no sense to you here. So with that out of the way lets start, Such mature, much Amaze Important tips, If you are new to Action-RPG's, pick up a lower difficulty level if you so desire (there are four in the game) Get comfortable with your input device and remap any actions you will use often and want to have on hand all the time Learn how to read, listen and comprehend, unlike most recent RPG's which tend to have a pretty up-front about showing you cause-effect cycle. The Witcher-verse is ambivalent to your choice making. Its your way or the highway and no you do not grow a pair of horns with goat hooves nor do you get a Halo on your head to reflect your choices. Explore the land like your life depends on it. Yes it really does help in such games. On to the meat of things. The UI, stuff marked with the Asterisk is switchable in the VIDEO options U w0t m8?!? How to level up in the Witcher? TW3 has four skill trees, GENERAL -- No MUTAGEN bonus SWORDPLAY -- Scales with Red MUTAGEN SIGNS -- Scales with Blue MUTAGEN ALCHEMY -- Scales with Green MUTAGEN You implement your skill(s) by adding them into an active slot (there a total of 12 slots) which can be boosted by combining a MUTAGEN, there are three MUTAGEN sub-types, illustrated in the above list. In the beginning, irrespective of your difficulty, you should ignore the specialised tree(s) of levelling up one of your particular aspects and focus as far as possible on the general tree. This is because the general tree although not very deep holds a lot of interesting active skill(s) that will serve you well irrespective of your level. So for the opener, get the following skills, Suns and Stars (allows your Vitality to regenerate as long as the Sun is up and once it is night accelerates your Stamina regeneration) Rage Management (allows you to use extra Adrenaline bars which build up during combat in lieu of Stamina, useful in-case you are Sign dependent) Focus (the more Adrenaline you have, the harder you hit, physically and magically) There are a few other Skill(s) here but nothing really worth investing in (the various technique(s) can be attended to later when you pick up and master a particular build) Then there are three specialised trees of development, SWORDPLAY (this is represented by the Red colour and all skill(s) under this tree scale in efficacy with a RED MUTAGEN) This tree will improve your damage output with the sword(s) at your disposal The rate at which you can inflict a Crit and how much more damage it can inflict on an enemy Improve your evasion capability and the chance of a physical attack reducing your vitality Rate of accumulation of Adrenaline from engaging in combat and using it to directly benefit Geralt's Vitality and DPS SIGNS (putting the Witching in The Witcher *bad pun, I know*, skill(s) under this tree scale in efficacy with BLUE MUTAGEN) This tree ties into the five basic SIGN's that Witcher's are trained to utilise, raising their lethality and efficiency under active and passive scenarios Rate at which Stamina is regenerated during combat and outside Unlocks alternative forms of every SIGN, AARD being used as an AoE, IGNI as a directed jet of fire, AAXI to win over a temporary ally et al ALCHEMY (Witcher hooch as described in-game, allows you to brew powerful potions, elixirs, bombs, salves and oils, these skill(s) scale with a GREEN MUTAGEN) This specialisation makes Geralt capable of imbibing more potions (which are toxic even for a Witcher), increasing their potency Potion effects wear of more slowly, oils, bombs and decoctions turn become more lethal Adrenaline build up improves the rate at which Geralt can inflict Crits on an enemy When you start playing, you will be an empty bucket and your path of specialisation is up-to you. You can invest heavily in the Signs and Swordplay to become a Battle Mage, alternately you can be a swashbuckling Alchemist, a hexing grenadier or an itinerant Warlock par excellence. Adrenaline acts like a intensity multiplier for all your actions, they can dramatically alter your damage output / aid your recovery (from near death) and fill in for STAMINA under circumstances. How to Combat? Have you set-up your controller / keyboard-mouse to your satisfaction, are you comfortable, if yes please proceed. REFER TO THE BESTIARY, Moving on from the skill trees, a Witcher is good only when he refers to his Bestiary or Grimoire of the occult, the unexplained and the magical. Refer to the same every time you fight with a new monster archetype, are expecting a major engagement with a mini-boss. This is because the Bestiary is going to tell you which Sign's, Oils and Bombs will affect a monster / enemy the most. You are free to experiment though, you can choose to go in a completely different direction and see if your methods are more effective for your build. LEARN HOW TO DODGE. Pretty elementary but, one of the first mistakes I was making. Even if you have made an opening to deliver an attack, do not follow through unless you are a 100% clear from any other threat. Know when to dodge roll (Spacebar on PC) or side-step (bound to Left Alt by me), alternatively double-tapping on a direction key will have you side-step in that direction. The former takes up Stamina, stops it from regenerating while opening a larger gap between you and the opponents whilst the former is a quick-step so that you can immediately counter-attack in-case of an opening. You can with human opponents choose to parry or glance their strike against your blade leaving them open for a counter-attack but most monsters ignore this or will stagger your parry in a single-hit. Learn your gear The Armour in The Witcher comes in a couple of variants, namely, Basic -- Basic items, generally can be crafted by even the most amateur armourers to a slightly more proficient set Master Item -- Combining Basic items and building on top of them allows most amateur armourers to craft a Master Set of Armour, generally have one attribute multiplier Magic Item -- A Magic Item can only be done by Master Armourers, these sets have exceptional stats combined with multiple attribute multipliers along with Rune Slot(s) Witcher Gear -- Legendary Witcher Gear, generally has multiple attribute improvements alongside an XP multiplier and multiple Rune Slot(s) for further customisation The Witcher Gear also has three forms, Basic Witcher Gear < Enhanced Witcher Gear < Superior Witcher Gear < Master Witcher Gear You need the preceding set of armour to craft the next level of the same. Crafting an armour set is done by an Armourer and crafting weapons is covered by a WeaponSmith. The above system also applies to your POTION's, OIL's and BOMB's, with their being, Basic formula < Enhanced Formula < Superior Formula Excessive potions can F#(* you up The same rule applies as armour sets, you need the preceding level item to concoct the superior level of the same A couple of generic other stuff that gets asked, I keep getting Overburdened, get bigger Saddlebags whenever you get the option. Might be costly but with the added option of more loot, always recoup-able. Also, please break down those 50 bazillion horse hides in your saddlebags, leather is needed for crafting and is a lighter component. I am unable to cover costs, you need to stop breaking down everything you lay your hands on, yes you can break down some of that horse hide but sell a couple pieces to the merchant across the street. You will need it, same with older gear (unless it has Runes embedded), weapons, mugs, jugs, pipes, eggs etc. To get the best price for what you sell, sell herbs, roots and stuff to an Alchemist / Herbalist. Weapons and armour to Weaponsmiths and Armourers respectively and Junk to the general Traders / Merchants. Why does Geralt / Roach control like greased lightning, this is a problem since the days of The Witcher and I do not think this will ever be ironed out completely, it has something to do with their pipeline. What to do with the inventory? NOTHING, absolutely NOTHING. I generally tend to shave with mine swords but getting old you see Any more questions, please let me know I will try to cover them. Now go! Agent 47
Any more questions, please let me know I will try to cover them. I believe witcher gears are the one to go for when armors are considered but i guess you get them at higher level..until then what armors do we need to choose or just go according to the level..Also, they are categorized in Light, Medium and Heavy so they act as per their name..What i mean is does Light armor make you more agile and heavy more strong.. The same thing goes for Weapons..I'm currently on level 10 and still using Serpentine Steel and Silver Sword..I believe there is something better out there at that level..I come across many common weapons but they don't have additional effects like the one i use.. And also good writeup..Newcommers will certainly welcome it..
