Heaven Angel
They are very different games.DA tells you everything. Witcher shows you everything. (Witcher is more fun to play when compared to DA.)I personally don't like DA due to turn based combat which I find it very boring. Here: The World: Both games actually have a pretty limiting world, however, while DAII recycles areas and dungeons, TW2's environments are far more varied. In fact, world design is easily the biggest downfall of DA2 as the game was rushed. While TW2 lacks explorability, it is memorable due to the great art direction. Winner: TW2 easily and decisively. The Combat: Hard to compare as they are completely different styles..DAII is party based and TW2 is solo based. Both have their strengths and weaknesses, and DAII's actually ends up being deeper. Can do without DAII's gibbing though and TW2 feels better. However the difficulty curve for TW2 can't be ignored but I do love how you cannot use potions in combat, Winner: EvenThe Plot: Both games take huge risks and tell very unconventional stories. Both games lack a true main antagonist, and focus more on themes and concepts being the antagonist. DAII is a huge step foward for Bioware in storytelling, its too bad many gamers familiar with generic stories fail to grasp what the plot was truly about. However TW2 has two advantages: its far more polished and less rushed, the choice and consquence is far better. Choices in DAII were more about personal aspects, who lives or dies, while TW2's choices were not only as personal as DAII, alters the entire plot. Winner: Both games are great in their storytelling, however TW2 will be the standard bearer for RPG storytelling for awhile. The Protagonist: I like female Hawke a lot, her role is very complex and unconventional but Geralt is truly the ultimate protagonist. I have not seen a protagonist as complete as him in a long time in gaming. Helps that he is a literary character first. Winner: TW2The Characters: Once again, both games are great. TW2's characters are VASTLY improved over the first games and feel very human. DAII's characters were also a huge improvement over the first game. Instead of being one dimensional characters made famous by their overpowering personalities, DAII's characters are far more three dimensional, complex in their motivations, and more human. Roche, Triss, Iorveth, Saskia, and VES!!!! stand out in TW2 while Aveline, Varric, Merrill, and Isabela are great in DAII. But here is where DAII has an advantage...there is a far bigger sense of comradrie here. They develop bonds that grow and change throughout the game, it was more than just between them and the protagonist. They grow with eachother as well. Winner; DAIIThe Dialogue: Very tough call, the Witcher 2's script is more consistant, but DAII's has more high points and is funnier. DAII's flaw in the dialogue mostly comes from the sarcastic dialogue option, sometimes its quite grand but other times its cringeworthy. The diplomatic and agressive tones are better written and more consistant. The dialogue system in both games are the way to go, and TW2 shows clear Bioware influence in their conversation system. Winner; EvenThe Soundtrack: Inon Zur mentioned that he had to rush the soundtrack for DAII, its too bad, while their are great tracks such as "Fenris Theme" and "Hawke's family theme", TW2's soundtrack is not only far more complete, its award worthy. The Flotsam theme is incredible. Winner: TW2 easily. The Voices: TW2s VA is easily better than the original, and I even like Triss's softspoken voice. Its very beautiful and heartwarming, but DAII's VA is better. TW2 has nothing that rivals the voice work of Varric, Bethany, and Merrill's character. Bioware rules in this department. Winner: DAIIThe Side Quests: I am going to compare TW2's optional quests with DAII's "secondary" quests....TW2's side quests are good, but not great, the main quests are far better. There are not many of them either and many feel "tacked on". DAII's however, deal with the main plot and a couple of side quests can have main plot implications later. Add companion quests and the side missions blow TW2's put of the water. Winner; DAII, not even closeOverall: Its too bad Bioware rushed their game, it just cannot hold up to The Witcher 2. Imagine if Bioware had 6-8 months more time. Even then, its will still have been tough to beat The Witcher 2, the best RPG of this generation. Bioware's Dragon Age team is simply not at CD Projeckts level yet, however, the writers are getting better.WINNER: The Witcher 2 Edited July 15, 2013 by Heaven Angel

It's an Action Rpg just like Witcher.

Heaven Angel
What? What is this then? ALPHA17
I mean, not full turn based..but controlling all characters.. or I'm missing something or it's auto? Party based system of control not turn based. Although it does have vestiges of turn-based systems. The Witcher has never had party based combat, everyone does their own thing, so you don't have to nurse any NPC. Just play as Geralt. ALPHA17
^^ The basic combat structure at BIOWARE has remained unchanged since 2004. KoTOR till Dragon Age: Origins (+Awakening), the last RPG's I played from them.
Heaven Angel
I liked Neverwinter Nights, SWTOR, KoTOR (buggy these days or just very old now) and Mass Effect. Just never got into DA much. Edit: DA:O - 15gb and DA:OA - 19gb. Edited July 16, 2013 by Heaven Angel

dylanjosh
@JoeCool - I can share your sentiment. I didn't like DAO combat either, but I still think you should play it for the story and characters. It's really well written like most Bioware games. Actually now that I think about it - I played it wrong. Tried to play it like a third person adventure instead of controlling all the characters and strategising and sh*t. ALPHA17
^^ Yes, Origins was the last BIOWARE game that felt good to play from a RPG point of view. Also, one of the last games that MILESTONE released a proper GoTY / Collector's Edition for.

ALPHA17
@1:00 - EXCLUSIVE FEATURE FOR XBOX ONE.. Kinect based, calm down. Nothing awesome. It is already awkward (for my family members) while I am playing multi-player with a microphone, shouting at the screen for Geralt to do stuff, even more awkward. CONFIRMED. Heaven Angel
Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment will be responsible for the distribution and promotion of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt in North America. "The premiere of The Witcher 3 is the most important event in CD Projekt's history. Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment is an extremely valuable partner for us because of their experience and established position on the American market, which is crucial to CD Projekt's further rapid development. We're very happy that our partners share our faith in The Witcher 3's success and are ready to become fully engaged in providing promotion and sales support for the franchise in North America," said Adam Kicinski, President, CD Projekt."The Witcher 3 is among the most anticipated games of 2014 and one of the most promising RPGs scheduled for release on next generation hardware," said Kevin Kebodeaux, Senior Vice President, Sales, Americas, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. "We are very pleased to continue our partnership working with CD Projekt on the Witcher franchise, which aligns with our goals to deliver quality experiences to gamers." The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt is the final entry in the current Witcher trilogy, though CD Projekt Red CEO Adam Kicinski has affirmed the "franchise will be continued." While multiplayer was initially a consideration, it was eventually abandoned along with the quick-time events seen in previous Witcher games. GOOD. Not every game needs multiplayer and certainly no RPG needs multiplayer.
ScrewyAurum
GOOD. Not every game needs multiplayer and certainly no RPG needs multiplayer. It worked with ME3.. then again it wasn't really a RPG
