ScrewyAurum
Seriously? What exactly did you not like about it?
dylanjosh
Combat was bad? I liked it more that most fantasy RPGs. IMO only Dragons Dogma had better combat. My only complaint about the combat was that it gets too dodge-rolly but that's towards the end. And I was playing Mage or whatever and had to dodge most attacks cause my health was low Edited August 1, 2013 by Dylanjosh

In fact on normal - hard I hardly had to play so defensively as I always invested more in signs. Only on Dark did I have to play really conservatively. sudarsan
Seriously? What exactly did you not like about it? Putting a lock-on system shows the game doesn't have tight controls[lock on system is a way to by-pass frustrating controls] , animations were too slow and i didn't get the actual feeling of a combat. Dragon's dogma on the other hand, had way better combat than witcher, different classes with different styles and moves, importantly the controls were tight. witcher maybe a better RPG but DD beats witcher easily in terms of combat. btw, I'm more of a combat focused guy than an explorer Edited August 2, 2013 by sudarsan
ScrewyAurum
True the lock on is finnicky, but to be honest I never used it. The combat flowed faster without it and with multiple enemies, its hardly difficult to target the person you want. As for the combat animation, its a matter of opinion. I for a fact like it. It feels natural almost free flow to me but there are others who like you find it slow and labored and are more used to quicker animations. I'm used to playing combat heavy games so it was hard for me to over look the combat in witcher but if they could pull off DD combat, I'm completely in from the looks of it, W3 will have good combat. ScrewyAurum
Naa, it won't be a radical departure from the W2.

ALPHA17
Dragon's dogma on the other hand, had way better combat than witcher, different classes with different styles and moves, importantly the controls were tight. There is a name that the game carries, The Witcher, you play as a Witcher. You don't pick your classes and more importantly they are trying to stick to the lore provided. CD PROJEKT RED was asked if the new game will have more weapon types for wielding, this was put down by the developers who felt that unless the situation is really desperate and he cannot access his swords the Witcher's don't use anything but those to engage with the enemy. And I feel it is fine the way it is. Naa, it won't be a radical departure from the W2. There are a few decisive changes in the pipes though, most importantly, more combat stances (both opening and closing) more combat animations (up-to 48 more if I recall) better dodge system, I hope you don't need to invest points in this and by default it is relevant. ScrewyAurum
Combat stances as in like the original? Or is it implemented differently? Edited August 2, 2013 by ScrewyAurum
ALPHA17
Combat stances as in like the original? Or is it implemented differently? Completely revamped system with no association to the originals stance based combat system., e.g., Geralt has a positional advantage over the enemy forces he might start with an aggressive stance or in-case of the enemy having local superiority or Geralt's awareness of a monster (archetype) or its environment is not complete then he might approach more defensively or cautiously. Unarmed combat vis-á-vis armed combatants has been teased, so new stances and postures for that as well. Finally, at the end of an engagement Geralt will not revert to his standard opening stance, it will carry forward if he thinks enemies are abound or will relax into a non-combative stance. ScrewyAurum
So is it auto or manual?
ALPHA17
So is it auto or manual? Passive auto-actuation depending on your real-world disposition in-game. Edited August 2, 2013 by ALPHA17
ScrewyAurum
Ah good, the stance switching in the OG was an annoyance sometimes.

Heaven Angel
^^I don't think you can move save files from XBOX to PC. Players will be able to choose their save file when they start a new game – as long as they’re playing on PC.“We’re not sure how it’s going to work on the consoles yet, but we might try to create some kind of game state even if you haven’t played,” Mamais added.“Obviously we didn’t make the game for the Playstation 3, so we might try to deliver something for the PS4 that could create some kind of profile for those players.” Game will come out by Q2 (end)-Q3 2014. So you have plenty of time (takes around 25 hours) to finish it on PC. Edited August 2, 2013 by Heaven Angel
