Solitaire
i guess he said that because pc games are cheaper I don't think that's always the case outside India.
AK77
I think 699 is gone anyway. For new games at least. NBA 2K13 is priced at 699 only, maybe due to small BB fan base here. Similarly, Spec-Ops The Line too I guess.
harjas
I don't think that's always the case outside India. really even after comparing the pc version ka price with the console version ka price ?
AK77
I don't think that's always the case outside India. It varies from title to tile I guess, Activision's COD at same price like consoles for 60$ while Spider man 10 bucks less, All EA titles are priced at 60$ while Square enix games are 15$ cheaper. Mostly PC games are 10$ less.
Solitaire
Yes it is. AFAIK Russia has the cheapest rates. Around $20 for Blops 2. Anyway, since you've joined the dark side, you can turn in your PC Master Race badge. We can give it to someone else like Sam. Sure games can't be re-used but badges can. Read again: I don't think that's always the case outside India. Atleast in the US it isn't that big of a difference. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the US a much bigger market than india as far as gaming goes? As far as the PC master gaming race thingy goes, just wait till I build my next rig beeches then you'll see. Saving so I can get a badass digital piano and a car right now and still pay my rent. Next rig will probably be early 2014 once this Haswell stuff has come out and the next round of graphic cards is out. Who knows, maybe I'll get 'something from the office' to play on (that and the upcoming PC hardware changes being the actual reason I'm holding off) Besides I don't want to SLI (you get the reference to a certain IVG thread right ) expecting to add another card later . really even after comparing the pc version ka price with the console version ka price ? It varies from title to tile I guess, Activision's COD at same price like consoles for 60$ while Spider man 10 bucks less, All EA titles are priced at 60$ while Square enix games are 15$ cheaper. Mostly PC games are 10$ less. Well the way I'm looking at it is that I go on Amazon or something and search for games. I find a maximum of a $10 discount most times and usually the same price on release date. With India, even at release there's more than a 50% discount when you compare PC and console versions of the same title. For instance, right now, Crysis 3 for the PC is $59.99 on Amazon and Newegg. The console versions are also the same price. That's the case in the UK and Australia too. Sure I'd like to have a $10 discount (like with Dead Space 3, you can get it cheaper on Amazon for the PC version after release date) but if I already have a machine that can do it well enough connected to my TV I wouldn't mind the 10 bucks more even then. In my case I get it totally free for the 360, so I just play stuff on my 360 Plus, yes I'm a bit biased towards the employer that's paying me a 6 figure salary (which is only natural though I'll gladly call out some stupid stuff like in one of the other threads :| ). Of course if I had a totally badass PC hooked up to a huge screen (and there was some game like Crysis 3 that would look so much better on PC), I would get the game on PC. Still, here $10 != a deciding-factor-level difference.
Solitaire
Yeah US is a bigger market. No doubt. But EU and UK are close. Either way, as Afty said, prices tend to drop faster on PC. Good not going with SLI. You can have your Master Race Badge back Agreed, that they do. Getting a PC right now is just a losing proposition for me cos I'll have to upgrade / chuck some components within a year. I'll just wait. Thank you for the badge
Solitaire
Doubt it. I'm guessing that the first two years of next-gen consoles are going to be on par with current mid-range PCs barring the odd exclusive or two. Was the same this gen and last one too. I'm not comparing it with consoles. I'm comparing it to PC components that may release within this year that will make the current set of processors and GPUs last gen. When I don't 'immediately' need the latest and greatest in PC hardware (my work laptop runs most of the games I need at medium-high and I have a big backlog of Xbox 360 games to complete plus multiplats I can get on the console for free), I can avoid buying current gen stuff and feeling buyer's remorse later in the same year (though I'm sure there's always something newer and better coming). playstation
I don't think every publisher has the power to price that high and do well in this market. Only two-three come to mind who can do it and get away with it. EA, Activision and maybe Take 2(only GTA mind you). The first two are already doing it, doubt Take 2 would 'coz Express likes keeping price low. It becomes a standard once 2-3 big publishers start pricing their games in same range ...others find it hard not to follow.... I think 699 is gone anyway. For new games at least. The only publisher that used to have that price AFAIK was THQ (RIP ). Darksiders 2 was priced at Rs 999.If i am right...saints row 3 was also Rs 999....so i think they too had started to price their games at Rs 999....once other publishers had set the standard. WhiteWolf
Milo What about Bethesda? ..All Bethesda PC games are over 2000Rs here......Same goes for Activision-Blizzard.
playstation
This is just really sad pc games so low & ps3 games going 2999/- Lol soo much difference This is true but then resale value is literally not there in pc games...so someone who like to play and sell will still go for consoles games only... CdrShawnzer
Rs. 999 is fair IMHO. Anything more than that is BS. As long as they maintain that price, it's all good. The moment things get more expensive, well...meh. Yup. Bethesda's MRP is 2499. Which is why you have retailers dropping price on Dishonored PC from 2499 to 1999 almost a month after launch because that price is not sustainable at all and the disty has been working to keep the pricing down. Games at that price are sent to die unless they're a CoD/Blizzard title. Console games are more expensive because of royalties and being a fully imported boxed product among other things. PC games here have local packaging but the discs alone are imported and don't have any royalties to deal with. Yup. The question is, how long will that market last since rumours of PS4/X720 killing it completely. PC is good because you won't mind not selling because here we're paying a little less than half the price in most cases. Kinda agree to this. The reason the used console game market has gotten to where it is, is because of the pricing of new games. and most people do not pay any money in most cases
