One of the more ambitious ideas cut from Saints Row 4 — like the game's nixed flying, fire-breathing dragon — was a three minute Bollywood-style song and dance number planned for the end of the game, Volition creative director Steve Jaros said at Comic-Con today.

"It was on our schedule," Jaros said during today's Saints Row Super Dangerous Wub Wub Panel, "and we were trying to do it the right way," with Volition looking at choreography and "the right Bollywood song" to license. Jaros said the idea was scrapped when the Saints Row 4 motion capture team detailed the cost and complexity of adding the song and dance gag. "Time kills jokes, is what it boils down to," he said.

"The stars didn't line up," Jaros said, but assured Comic-Con attendees "the spirit of the Bollywood dance number happens [at the end] and it is poetry in motion. It is so good."

Jaros joked that "Saints Row is about the arts," adding that — through the Saints Row 4 in-game radio — enemy alien Emperor Zinyak reads monologues from Shakespeare plays and the entire first chapter of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice.

Saint’s Row 4 DLC: ‘Enter the Dominatrix’ due after launch

Saint’s Row 4 developer Volition Inc has confirmed that the game’s first DLC pack ‘Enter the Dominatrix’ will launch within 45 days of the game’s August release. It takes the form of a mockumentary starring the game’s cast.

Enter the Dominatrix DLC will focus on behind-the-scenes footage featuring the game’s characters as they jokingly discuss why the expansion concept was cut and re-purposed into a full game.

Enter the Dominatrix was originally coined as a DLC pack for Saint’s Row The Third, but the concept of players fighting aliens in a virtual world was expanded into Saint’s Row 4.

During a Comic-Con panel, Volition studio head Steve Jaros confirmed that the Enter the Dominatrix DLC will focus on behind-the-scenes footage featuring the game’s characters as they jokingly discuss why the expansion concept was cut and re-purposed into a full game.

I guess, they will sell that Bollywood ending sooner or later as DLC.

Saints Row IV goes gold, DLC plans detailed

Tzzgd9H.jpg

It’s official: Saints Row IV has gone gold. “Gone gold” simply means that the code has been finalized, and the only thing left to do is to distribute the software in question to the masses.

The Season Pass for Saints Row IV will include two mission packs and the “Rectifier,” a Season Pass-exclusive anal probe weapon. Sounds like it won’t hurt at all.

The Season Pass will include the Director’s Cut version of the recently-announced “Enter the Dominatrix” DLC, with the second mission pack arriving in late 2013. The Season Pass will go for $15, with Saints Row IV itself launching for Xbox 360, PS3, and PC on August 20 in North America and August 23 everywhere else.

Saints Row IV has “greater potential” than its predecessor, says Deep Silver

Saints Row The Third was a huge success in the UK with over 1m units sold across boxed and digital. But the potential of Saints Row IV is much greater than merely looking at what The Third achieved.

Research indicates that 80 per cent of Saints Row The Third players intend to purchase Saints Row IV. That’s an incredibly positive insight into the titles sell-through potential.
