Heaven Angel
http://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/2013-02-22-next-gen-software-will-pricing-hold "I think that games should be priced based on the value proposition, so some games should be priced higher, but I don't think the publishers have the collective will to charge more. My guess is that $59.99 will be the price point. I would applaud the publishers if they tried to charge $69.99, although gamers would probably get upset," said Wedbush Securities' Michael Pachter. Few (lot actually) people are not happy with current price and this sh*t head wants publishers to charge 70 bucks! $70 for 5 hours. spindoctor
This has already happened. Remember when Bioware cut out the Prothean from Mass Effect 3 and sold it as 10$ day 1 DLC? You know how digital deluxe editions cost 20$ more and have more content than the 'base game'? You know how companies now offer pre-orders for season passes with exclusive benefits? All this is the same thing. They don't need to increase the price from 60$ when they have already increased the price of the game. The only question is how far will they go to cut out content from the game to sell for extra money. It's hard to imagine that it can get worse than it already is but I have complete confidence that the gaming industry will shamelessly find a way. spindoctor
I almost forgot about this one... EA’s future games will all feature microtransactions “We are building into all of our games the ability to pay for things along the way; to get to a higher level. And consumers are enjoying and embracing that way of business.” EA’s chief technology officer Rajat Taneja is overseeing the move. Jorgensen added that Taneja’s team views microtransactions as a key feature moving forward

WhiteWolf
Capcom: 'There's no difference between DLC and locked disc content' Capcom took the opportunity to respond directly to fan complaints, saying: "At Capcom, we value our customers and make every effort to resolve customer complaints. We are sorry to hear that [censored] was so disappointed with the Street Fighter x Tekken game (''SFxT''), and would like to respond to his complaints." "While Capcom is sorry that some of its fans are not happy about the chosen method of delivery for the DLC, we believe that this method will provide more flexible and efficient gameplay throughout the game's lifecycle." "There is effectively no distinction between the DLC being ''locked'' behind the disc and available for unlocking at a later date, or being available through a full download at a later date, other than delivery mechanism." http://www.computerandvideogames.com/342305/capcom-theres-no-difference-between-dlc-and-locked-disc-content/
Sackboy
The difference is like using a condom or a contraceptive pill. HundredProofSam
I think Pachter's only audience is gamers. I doubt anyone within the industry even listens to what the guy has to say. He said the PS4 will have games at 240 fps. Clearly the guy has no idea what he's talking about. As for pricing, I don't think it will go above $60. In fact, I see a lot of publishers now going for variable pricing. We'll see more $30 and $40 games that may not have a whole lot of single-player content, with DLC content to extend the experience. If they decide to stick to what they've been doing this gen - full pricing + DLC, it's their funeral. Ironically, THQ was the only publisher to have the sense to adopt variable pricing in the current-gen. It failed, but I think that had more to do with the game they tried it with than with the business model.

IshmaelIsBack
Here I am thinking of why exactly a $10 leap from $49.99 was necessary from lastgen and the quality of lastgen titles shits all over this gen , now looking at this clown , i could only hope there's a mod for the PC version of GTA V where I get to chase this bloke off , firing bazookas on his a*s. What the hell , R* , please parody this sad little numbskull in all the versions.
