Mizanurification
I googled around and found out that its a malware problem. So i formatted my laptop (including all the drives) and then reinstalled again. But still the problem persists. Pages are getting redirected to some advertmediasdata.com automatically. Im not sure how the malware is infecting it again after formatting? Could it be my iphone? Anyone else had a similar problem? I prefer not using an antivirus. Grrhhh... ALPHA17
Is this when you Google something OR every time you open a fresh tab / window. Can be through a pen-drive, iPhone (does it happen on this as well). Have you checked the search engine settings.
Heaven Angel
There can be multiple reasons. 1) Malware. Download Malwarebytes and scan. 2) Chrome extension. Check you extension and see what's installed..Dis-able all and see. 3) Is it redirected when you open new tab? or? Check your search engine has not been fiddled with right click the URL bar and choose "edit search engines" 4) Site IP is 184.168.221.96..So open your .host file and block it. location: C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\etc 127.0.0.1 advertmediasdata.com 127.0.0.1 www.advertmediasdata.com

Re-enabled only those required. 2) Sought help at bleepingcomputer.com. Possibly the best site on the planet for anything related to viruses or malware ! ALPHA17
Directions to clear your Search engine and TAB's of such residual transfers -- If these steps do not cure your system, you need to install Malwarebytes, clean up the system and delete all infected files. Hope this helps, Cheerio!
Bird Bird Bird
^^ Mlawarebytes is useless for his redirections. Know for a fact because the Pro version was useless for mine. I would suggest disabling all the extensions and enabling them one by one.

Can be through a pen-drive, iPhone (does it happen on this as well). Have you checked the search engine settings. It occurs after i leave a opened tab inactive for a few minutes. Im formatting my laptop using a pendrive, however, i do not open the pendrive after formatting. No, the iphone is working fine. However, i noticed that the browser starts acting weird after i sync my iphone. I didnt mess around with it. There can be multiple reasons. 1) Malware. I did install Malwarebytes, It was quarantining the malware, but not deleting it. 2. I only have Adblocker installed. 4. Done. There wont be any other problem? Bird Bird Bird
I would also suggest posting your issue on BleepingComputer.com. Some very dedicated guys will ask you to run some security softwares and provide logs, via which the exact problem can be taken care of. In my case, it was one of the extensions plus some registry keys.
