The fate of Patrice Desilets, the acclaimed game designer who created the Assassin's Creed franchise before leaving Ubisoft to join THQ Montreal in 2011, is no longer up in the air.

Ubisoft officials today confirmed to Polygon that Desilets has returned to the company. The return to Ubisoft occurred after THQ Montreal, where Desilets was working, was acquired wholesale by Ubisoft in THQ's January fire sale.

"We are very pleased to welcome Patrice to Ubisoft again and anticipate that this renewed partnership will produce new ideas and high-quality titles for Ubisoft's customers," a spokesperson said.

In January, a Ubisoft representative told Polygon that it was too soon to say if Desilets would return to Ubisoft.

"In the coming weeks we'll be looking at how to offer an organizational structure that provides continuity for the creative teams involved," the spokesperson said at the time. "Unannounced projects from THQ Montreal are included as part of the acquisition."

The two projects in question, are 1666 — the working title for the project helmed by Desilets — and another project codenamed Underdog.

Just in case people don't know who he is, he's worked on titles like:

AC1, AC2 and ACB (creative director in all instances)

Metal Gear Solid 4

Prince Of Persia: Sands Of Time

Insanely talented developer.

Pretty glad he's back. Only good can come out of this (unless things go sour again, then  )

So that is why AC3 sucked soo much after the Ezio series.

Looks like i could look forward to next AC game. :)

Yeah both AC3 and ACR weren't up to the mark. He's not working on the next AC yet though. He's working on 1666 and Underdog

I liked ACR also, it was not very bad but too good as well. Although still leaps and bounds better than the AC3 <_<

By the next game, i mean the next AC game after Black Flag :P

patrice never worked on MGS 4. he's only contribution to that game (if it counts as one) is letting konami use that altair costume.

Dunno if you're serious, but I can't find anything online that says what exactly his involvement was. He's just credited as working on the game.

Credited where? Giantbomb? Why would a ubisoft employee be credited in a konami game?

Wannabe actor credited in a wannabe filmmaker's game. Sounds like a match made in heaven. :P
