DealinGames
some fellow ivg member wrote about jugaad not good thing . @captian ---are you college going kid or are you a bussinessman. In india if you wanted to work you need to do some sort of jugaad everytime as myself facing lots of problem without jugaad things have not been possible. not disclosing the state i have faced issue - localpolice guys walkin as ask for some documents- we shown have everythingand said these are all documents.he told you need to have police license.heard it first time for that state. So he said next day comewith all documents. We went with everything and he said you dont havedocument required by police people. So we said sorry. Hesaid to pay him 15000 rs .We said for what .he said you runningbussiness from past few months that why and u didnt paid any penny topolice. we told him to wait and we went office and came back with 15000and gave him.We said sir please it high amount ,so he said he need togive those to his seniors with our most please to him he just took 10000rs and return us back 5000. now new part of story,he told us that until we dont get license we have to pay him 5000 permonth. In case we dont pay him 5000 rs we have to close our outlet. now from past few days we are running into police office and we are not getting anywhere. not bad part of this license cost is just rs 500.But we dont know how much expense we have to pay to get the license. please note most of my cafe are under some fear of there lives due to some reason and that time jugaad come. Personallyi belong to politcal family so i dont get fears from these people buteveryone else do get some scare sh*t from there lives,so that placejugaad comes reason is simple - govt employess fees that there salary is less and they deserver more . Oneway another a normal constable salary is 9000 rs and he wants herdaughter to be married to good family and his son to get education insome institute but cost of that education is moolah. reason i am arguging because sitting on internet and saying somethign is simple but getting these things to work is not possible, Hope we can think of not bribing but in actual life bribging is only one way to go ahead So people please admit and put your thaught about jugaad or bribing and do comment that did it helped you out or not
Sackboy
It is not good for sure but the fact is that if you want your work done , you have to pay , all legal methods will take so much time as everyone will stall your process if you don't pay then , my mother is a businesswoman and she faces this everyday too , get a tender and the guy at the office wants a 5% cut else he will give the tender to someone else . You have no choice but to comply or your business dies.
The Wolfy among us
i am a person working in a software firm. Now you'll say that I have my life easy, and so I need not do any jugaad. But no, i have come across many scenarios where I could've got my work done faster, but still am waiting to get it done.

Kr1pt1k
Because many people resort to juggad, others who don't want to are also left with no other choice sometimes to get their work done.... But I think juggad and bribing is different. Getting your work done through alternative way is juggad. Paying to get your work done is bribe..... sent from Xperia sl using tapatalk
CM Sunny
My dad has or rather had two wine shops in kanpur since the last 6-7 years. While growing up I have seen the issues he had to face. The amount of jugaad & bribery required just to run it normally is astounding. It's really hard to carry out work without it. Nemo
why is bribing seen as india specific phenomenon ? it is there everywhere, more so in developing nations- an inatverdent offshoot of high population (more people wanting to get stuff done) and low incomes of govt emplyoees that is common there. in developed you might not have bribing at middle-upper middle class levels but at the poles (poor immigrents paying to not being racially profiled and rich people givibg gifts, donations to people in power) it is there. We never met properly Next time on me Yea Kanpur sucks to a large extent, I can safely say that despite it being my home town & stuff. Remember when you phoned me when you were planning to open your lounge in kanpur? I was very hesitant to suggest you a place since I was really skeptical if a decent lounge can run smoothly in kanpur. School years were such a drag down :/
DealinGames
for simple reason getting passport in india is said to simple .you go to passport office and apply for it you get it .now tough part of this to get the passport you need get signed your own verification by SDM or collector. now if you work in normal way you get your documents signed by SDM in 1 months or whatever . But if you have some jugaad you can get in done in 2 hours .See the difference. but scenario for bribing would be different as you dont know anyone in collector office but you are in hurry to get passport as you got selected in MNC .Story would be very different DID anyone of us have every waited in govt office to get his document Did you ever went to collector office to get your document signed . Just share your experience people really work hard to stop people like me not ot pay any bribe or stop using jugaad but nothing has helped me . Bczin life, every country indian people sees there profit which i see in my bussiness and daily life thanks
_Hellsboy_
If you are paying to get your work done faster than what the official time is OR paying bribe to get rid of fine --> Wrong. IMO its just plain wrong. If people do this it delays others work and makes the official habitual to getting bribed. There is NO justifiable reason for this in my eyes. If you have done everything according to process and still the official is making it obvious that without greasing him things wont get ahead -- > Understandable I have been fined twice while driving. I haven't tried to bribe even once. Even though the police wallah was hinting that I can get away with less. BUT once when I was fined for outdated pollution papers. I submitted my license, went to pay the court fine. The judge there started saying things like he cant find my papers. Come another day etc. etc. It was obvious what I had to do ( 300 Rs. ki ghoos). And I did it

I applied under the urgent 7 days passport scheme thing, my mother refused to pay bribe. Long story short, After a long frustrating & soul crushing ordeal, I got my passport on Dec. I had to postpone my exam date twice. I remember creating a thread, I'll try & find it. Seriously, the dalal just wanted 7k & he promised to give within 2 days, We refused him & end up paying 8k just to get it after 3 month.
The Wolfy among us
Everybody says that jugaad is the way out to get things done faster, because everything takes time in India. But, the reason why everything takes time is because of other people jumping the queue. I know you can't change things by yourself, but please dont' jump into the garbage yourself It's very disheartening to see jugaad everywhere. Just not in government offices. Even a small thing like waiting for the traffic signal has gone to dogs now. You see motorcyclists using the footpath to get to the front, cars signal jumping etc. Or take for instance the supermarket billing counter. I'm sure you all would have faced a scenario where someone wants to cut the line because "I've just got two things. I'll be done soon". I think we Indians are hardwired to find the easy way out. And with a country as populated as ours, I don't see a solution to this problem. Instead of cribbing, can we discuss on things to solve this? Because from my heart deep down, I am getting fed up of living in this country. I'd rather go to Antarctica and live a peaceful life. I mean this. DealinGames
okay u meant we delay other work by giving bribe @my store was mentioned earlier.so what should i do police guy is asking either to get police license or pay him 5000 rs . Now dont u peoople think he will delay the license bcz each month he will get 5000rs @just instance of life tells people about what jugaad meant to them..Dont people feel that without jugaad things are not simpler in india and in our busy life dont we wont something to be simple thx
The Wolfy among us
The police issue is really unfortunate imo. But I'm talking about much simpler things here. Let's leave out bribes here for just a moment. What about the issue of jumping signals, or ambulances flouting their privileges, or motorcyclists using the footpaths. Or at hospitals, faster treatment if you know the doctor. How is all this fair to the other people?
DealinGames
@regargind footpaths..do we really have footpaths in india. what u said is true..people using ther jugaad for wrong way but like every story this word has its different meaning which i am trying to say. Jugaad helped me a lot and people feel its more convient way to get there work done. but i still prefer other people to share there experience And about doctor why do we have family doctor - should we call them jugaad doctor...no offence i meant.
