CdrShawnzer
Those two aren't mutually exclusive. Darksiders fans like to pretend that it's some amazingly high quality IP with great games but the reality is that it's not and the market has spoken to that effect. The market loves CoD-type games with guns.
Dbz_479
I think vigil was commended for their hardwork on their very first game and got some more like/dislike for their 2nd game.It certainly had the potential if done right. As of sales marking quality of a game,There are many games with far worse sales yet applauded for the effort and remembered for the same. spindoctor
The first game sold pretty well And the second game improved alot from the first one. And yet, the IP sold for scraps because no one wanted to touch it. The market loves CoD-type games with guns. They do. They also love other games. God of War sells gangbusters. Zelda sells gangbusters. Why didn't the clone sell as well as them?
KnackChap
people defending sh*t like darksiders!!! what has the world come too.... hey guys, i would like to know your opinion on super all smash battle royale.
Big Boss
Exactly. I fail to see why so much love for average game (clone actually) like DS 1? The story was very basic, and almost everything it had was borrowed from other games and wrapped in average graphics. In fact, everything about DS is average. And as no one bothered with IP, it pretty much confirms that it was a below par game. It can be compared to likes of Sniper Elite or Sniper Ghost warriors or Necrovision series. Just decent average games. Budget title written all over them.

Dbz_479
There are people who call brutal legend sh*t There are people who call metro 2033 sh*t There are people who call the new DMC sh*t Then there are people who call COD sh*t and buy it every year. if everyone on this forum is asked to state a game which others called sh*t,I wonder how long the list will be.Btw my younger cousin plays all stars royale and he enjoys it thoroughly. So, going by your logic all COD titles are the best games this gen and TR and SC:Conviction was an excellent sequel because market has spoken of that effect while games like TR:Underwold, darkness sucked because market has spoken of that effect people defending sh*t like darksiders!!! what has the world come too.... hey guys, i would like to know your opinion on super all smash battle royale. Nemo
They do. They also love other games. God of War sells gangbusters. Zelda sells gangbusters. Why didn't the clone sell as well as them? gow and zelda are exclusives and have a set install base spanning generations of consoles. darksiders borrowed a lot but from different games. it wasnot a dante's inferno that cloned one game specifically. moreover, darksiders made a good mixture out of it. it is a valid point that this gen has relied heavily on shooters and sequels. a new non exclusive (ie non ms/sony backed) ip that doesnt have a predominantly gun based gameplay has it very tough on console market, in fact i cant recall any such game or series that sold wel even if it was praised. can you ? Point me one thing which was original in TR and GOW (when it came) itself was called DMC+Onimusha at that time. And if you see it this way (completely your logic) DS was RE in space, UC was gears in jungle, gears itself was punisher in warfare and the list continues..... WhiteWolf
gears itself was punisher in warfare lol ? Gears took inspiration from RE4 and KillSwitch not Punisher.... Its fun to see guys saying something like this who enjoyed games like TR and thinks its a GOTY material Why bring poor Lara into all this ? Everyone enjoyed TR not just him, even those who liked Darksiders 1 and 2.....
Shadoken
Lol wtf If a game company continues the same IP its milking. If they make a new IP and its similar to existing ones then its just copying. If they make a new IP thats very different then "It doesnt feel right" reminds me of that Miyamoto zelda post . I think Darksiders was a decent franchise, in a genre that has barely any titles now. It failed because it wasnt good enough to be AAA(budget/marketting wise). I mean you see games like RE6 and TR being considered failures after selling 5m+. And you have Dark Souls being a big financial success after selling 2m. DS2 fell victim to Poor Marketing and it was underhyped lol no

Oh right, you'll keep crying about it on the Internet while the people you look down upon for enjoying COD will keep having fun with their game. And no one will give a sh*t about your opinion. Difference is, those games were actually fun to play. Not a drag like DS2. Heck even the DmC game is better than DS series. DS is just plain boring and average quality title. If people have shitty taste and prefer shitty games like new TR then thats what devs are gonna give to them. As long as it sells its good if it doesn't sell its sh*t. @lee - oh please now you think its an average game because you it was slow, it doesn't have puzzles, no QTE, no two weapons only, no run and gun like every other shooter these days. And DS was million times more fun than TR.

"you dont like my fav so so game so you must be a cod player biatch". except playing cod or uncharted requires you to have a lot more skill than just pressing a button or 2 on darksiders.
