The recommended volume of usage of video memory for all resolutions will be the volume of 4 GB, although as we have seen from the video card test - Lords Of The Fallen playable and 2-gigabyte solutions.

Played 60 minutes. Apart from random crashing (4 times in 60 minutes), I like it so far. It's 'cute' version of Dark Souls. The first boss was not hard. His combat moves changed over time. He also lost his armor piece by piece during fight.

Game looks nice. No jaggies even without AA. I think PhysX is enabled by default. You can see all particle effects during boss fight (like when he swings his GS). Looks really nice.

  • Animation - Running, blocking, rolling, drinking, etc are exactly like Dark Souls.
  • Combat is smooth. Variety of weapons and gear.
  • Enemy design - so far have seen only 2 types (+1 boss). Not so shabby.
  • Magic is kinda OP during boss fights. Just pray and summon a clone of you. He takes aggro for few seconds. You can attack during this time. Also, magic orb fills up within few seconds. So you can use it a lot.
  • Gameplay system is also like Dark Souls. Instead of souls, you have experience. You lose when you die, but you can recover it. You can store (i.e. use it to increase your character attributes, but it'll affect your loot modifier).
  • Voice acting and music could have been better.
  • KB+M controls turned out better than expected.

crashing cuz of memory leaks.

"resource exhaustion detector" error in the event logger, the game crashed.

Day 1 patch yet not released.

I think steam version is updated with day 1 patch. You can find lot of files inside patch folder.

Edit: I won't recommend it at the moment. Game is unstable at moment. Random fps drop and it's crashing non-stop. Every ~15-30 minutes, it's crashing. :wallbash:

Edit 2: 89 minutes. 8 crashes. Had to replay same area 3 times.

Wow frame-rate drops even on GTX 970?

Some are calling it poor man's Dark souls :P

Crashing fixed. Just change this to false. Played 2 hours straight without crashing.

// defines if APEX should utilize GPU support (e.g. for APEX Turbulence) if available (true/false)
apex_gpu_support_enabled = false

I wouldn't call it as poor man's Dark Souls. It costs $50, it looks much better than Dark Souls, the locations are cool. Only difficultly wise, it's little easy compared to DS.

No map, no info regarding quests, you are on your own. Lot of hidden places/rooms to explore. Difficultly is realistic. Really liking it so far. :D

Patch should be out soon.

At the time of writing, the game enables NVIDIA Turbulence effects on all systems, causing poor performance on lower-spec machines. CI Games and Deck 13 are aware of the issue are working to update the public version of the game with the aforementioned in-game PhysX option. In the meantime, you can manually adjust the setting by opening 'My Documents', navigating to the 'Lords of the Fallen' folder, opening the 'settings.ini' file, and changing 'apex_gpu_support_enabled = true' to 'apex_gpu_support_enabled = false'. You can also disable VSync by changing 'vsync = true' to 'vsync = false'.

New update rolled out.
Size: 62 MB

We would like to announce that the 'Nvidia turbulence' and v-sync options are now available in the advanced in-game video settings with the latest update. Disabling these options will improve the game performance and avoid most of the stability issues.

In order to disable the Nvidia turbulence, please do the following:

1. Launch the game
2. Enter advanced settings in options menu
3. Select 'Nvidia turbulence'
4. Switch the option to 'disabled'
5. Apply changes
6. Restart the game

If you are having problems with the options not being saved after restarting the game, please try changing and applying the settings using a gamepad. We are aware of this issue and it is going to be patched ASAP.

Nice and quick fix. 0rPSUpc.gif

^ sounds good. How is combat? Is it like KoA?

Combat is not fast like KoA. It's slow, bulky and strategic. More like Dark Souls. You can feel the weapon.

Hammer and GS are very slow and heavy.

Just finished it.

Wow, extremely short and pretty bad story. DZ7Wl2T.gif

Last 3 boss fights were challenging (+1 champion). Rest of them were easy (kite around legs and keep rolling). Total 9 boss fights.

Same set of trash mobs throughout the game and over usage of same location. Think there are only 3-4 'small' locations. You keep coming back and fight different boss. Kinda disappointing.

Pros:

  • Challenging combat.
  • Looks good but heavy chromatic aberration usage.
  • No hand holding.
  • Good amount of weapons and armor.

Cons:

  • Bad story.
  • Bad characters.
  • Limited number of locations.
  • Performance issues.

6.5/10. Fun ride, but not worth $50. Game is strictly for users who want to try something challenging. It doesn't offer anything else.

If I could take its combat system, weapons, and enemies and put it in another more interesting game, I would.

Lords of The Fallen PC DRM Remains Uncracked – Believed to be the Cause of In-Game Performance Issues

Lords-of-the-Fallen-635x357.jpg

Gone are those days when DRM solutions helped video game developers to avoid video game piracy on PC, and it took computer jockeys fairly long to crack open most newly released games for free-of-cost download. Now that the PC gaming community is growing sufficiently, it has become only a matter of hours before a major triple A title is cracked and put up for download on the internet after its official release, or sometimes, even before. However, it looks like CI Games is having great luck with its recently launched next-gen video game known as Lords of the Fallen, as its PC DRM still remains uncracked now after 3 days of release.

Known to almost all, to protect online video game content and stop it from being pirated, and copyright-violated, video game developers use a class of technologies known as Digital Rights Management. Though after years of advancement and growth in PC gaming and key punchers’ community, DRMs are not as strong and effective now as they used to be in the past. Developers consider their DRM solution as a fortune if it lasts a couple of days after official release of the game, as most major AAA games are cracked and pirated on PC only after hours, or sometimes even before, their launch.

However, it looks like the PC version of Lords of the Fallen, a recently released action-packed hack and slash role-playing video game that has been developed by CI Games and Deck13 Interactive exclusively for latest platforms, is doing pretty well with its DRM, even 3 days after its official release. The game hasn’t been cracked and pirated yet, all thanks to a new DRM solution that it takes advantage of, and which is also considered as the main cause behind various in-game performance issues including frequent crashes and bugs.

The DRM solution that Lords of the Fallen uses comes from acopyright protection company known as Denuvo, and it is apparently the same one that has been used in FIFA 15, which is also yet uncracked. While this DRM has kept the game from being pirated until now, it has also been reported several times that this solution is supposedly the main cause behind several in-game bugs and crashes that are affecting users’ gameplay experience. CI Games has rolled out a guide using which, players can turn PhysX effects off to stabilize gameplay but problems still persist for many.

To improve gameplay stability, the developer is working on a patch that is aimed at fixing all performance issues, and it is still official unconfirmed if the new DRM solution is really causing all the mess, but one thing is for sure, Lords of the Fallen has escaped privacy in its first two days, which is an accomplishment in itself.

700K+ copies sold.

It worked! Lords of the Fallen has been well received by the market, showered eights and nines in the reviews, the players showed enthusiastic, and the sale did not disappoint. At a conference held in his Warsaw office CI Games sums up his latest premiere and reveals plans for the future. It will happen!

Nice. :D
