Quantum Break: “no way” Remedy could do it without Microsoft

Quantum Break is an Xbox One exclusive, something which will benefit both sides, the executive said.

“This is clearly a strategic move for them as well as us. This is something – we have crazy ideas – but we need to fall back and let the full force of a company like Microsoft see it through,” Myllyrinne told GamesIndustry.

“There’s no way on God’s green Earth that we would take on a venture like this on our own. We might have the appetite but there’s no way we could.

“Our interests are nicely aligned. We serve a strategic purpose for them in delivering unique content for their platform with a unique twist,” he added.

“And for us that allows us follow the creative passion that the team needs to fulfil through a project like this.”

Despite Microsoft’s partnership, Myllyrinne acknowledged that the episodic format, TV-tie in Quantum Break is a bit of a chancy gamble – but that may be a good

thing.

“You need to take risks, we need to take risks. Both creatively and to do things differently to what we’ve done before,” he said.

“Doing things the way you’ve done them in the past – you’ll stagnate and die. If anything that’s been a central theme for us for 24-36 months. We’ve been really focused on learning new things quickly – there’s a lot of things we’ve been doing on iOS that we haven’t talked about – so we’re learning new things there.

“The industry is going through tremendous change. The bets are getting bigger and bigger. We need to be responsible about the choices we make. For us, it’s better to set out and do something very ambitious and hard rather than not. Life’s too short.”

^^Actual Gameplay (Pre-Alpha)

Yeah , I'd love to see it run like that on actual hardware too.

The only Xbox One exclusive i am excited for :)

Good luck with that. Alan Wake took 2 years for the PC. American Nightmare was on the same day but that was an arcade release and they didn't pimp the exclusive card for that when it was revealed. I'd be really surprised if this takes more than 6 months to land on PC , considering how easy the ports would be this time around ( or is it the other way around due to x86 ) and the PC market never being much stronger than it is today.

^ I would commenting on it but as Snake said, knowing Remedy's past track record I won't put it past them.

All depends on how well it sells and how soon they get around to put up a version that can be released on PC.

okay. yes remedy games does come to pc in the end but if they have signed the exclusive deals on xbone which does not allow them to release it on pc then i dont think they can bring it on pc.

I hope though nothing like that has been signed ...

I think even for the XBox 360, Remedy had a very draconian pact with MicroSoft. Game did not sell as expected, funds dried up and they had to stop developing on any other projects. Another reason we won't be looking at any Alan Wake sequel's / follow up in the near future.
