Excellent game. I thought it was the end of joel when ellie was deer hunting!!.. But the rest of the story is where the core of the game is.. Loved it. MP is great as well.

Dont think this game will have a (direct) sequel though. It seems to have been made with too much integrity to eventually become a cash grab. And personally i would like not knowing how Joel and Ellie's lives eventually ended up; good or bad their story feels over.

^Most publishers do that even if they don't have plans for more games in the series. Often, you wont see a sequel/prequel coming out. More of a precautionary measure.

lol every other game has a 20 something male protagonist who can pretty kill anything and survive anything

 

if it's a guy doing all that then it's realistic and if it's a girl doing all that then it's unrealistic ?

 

what did you want ? ellie screaming for help from others ? she is the main char of this game... she is allowed to do anything and kill anyone

There are lot of things which breaks the immersion in this game ..

 

1st - Friendly A.I

 

2nd - HQ Pre-rendered cutscene....Character models look amazing in cutscenes but in actual gameplay not so gr8....I prefer in game cutscenes like in Tomb Raider, MGS4 nd all...Lara looks same in both cutscene and actual game.....

 

3rd - Elie and her super human like strength to kill enemies twice her size.....

you are forgetting she was born AFTER the breakout happened. She is not aware of a world where dangers like these do not exist. She has the psychology needed to survive and tap into rage mode (so as to speak) to become a stone cold killer as she has been seeing it all around her the moment she was able to relate to things as a baby. 14-15 is not toddler that cannot kill/shoot stuff for an extended time. Her skills as a marksman (markswoman ?) can be questioned but if given sufficient training from early stages any person can be an very good combatant in their mid teens, remember i am saying shooting stuff, not fist fights as body is still developing in teenage.

 

Heard of Child/teen soldiers in LTTE and African civil wars ?

 

and what's her being a girl got to do with how she can or cannot dispatch a horde of zombies ? sexism ? seesh

shooting guns, arrows and sneaking up on dudes to stab them with a sharp blade does not depend on physical strength, i mean sure you need a base level of physical attributes and fitness (which any FIT teenagers will have) but beyond that it is more about sharp mind, mental strength and technique with said weapon. Give me one reason why a girl even at 15 will not be able to do this at an equal level than a boy or a man provided their experience and ability with the weapon is the same.

 

what has other people being raised as survivors got to do with her being able to kill them ? she happens to be more efficient killer with strong psyche to not get freaked out seeing all blood shed around her. If you want to talk about realism bear in mind that in reality killing some one is more a mental challenge. Not many people (irrespective of what they like to believe about themselves and their inflated- by movies/videogames- ego) can bring themselves about to kill other people in a pressure situation like defending themselves from a psycho, specially if they are not trained. Remember the Robin Blake scene from Dark knight rises ? where he shoots some dudes for the first time and looks in horror at the gun and himself ? yeah that.

 

The girl have all the reasons to not have any such inhibitions as she has been seeing all kinds of dark, twisted things around her ever since she was born. So even if the people she kills are equally hard as nails mentally, that does not automatically make them better than her, it just means that now both parties are not reluctant or hesitant to kill any one in order to survive. After that it just becomes a game of who sees and shoots first and ofcourse, luck.

 

And lastly, just so you can feel that given necessary environment even a teenager (13-19) can become a ruthless combatant-

Post P.S. the self depreciating shtick of your's, the "oh me less brain, you teh mighty brains" is kinda sad to see. Be up for healthy arguments, no problems in that. I am not hounding you, nor am i displaying any superiority complex.

Btw if you don't clear that last bit of that hotel lvl using stealth you'll notice how Ellie was always this stone cold killer that she is when david shows up..

 

That part where joel hands over a rifle to Ellie and tells her to use it only when and if sh*t hits the fan, in that part just shoot a couple of guys and hide in some corner of the map.. You'll see how Ellie pretty much destroys all of them within 10-15mins.. Seriously, she cleared out the whole area within 10mins on my first playthrough. I was hiding in a corner because i was out of ammo and supplies plus my health was almost 0

 

i bet ND specifcally enhanced Ellie's AI for that section just to prove a point

And her melee animations are done so beautifully.. Try knifing ppl from the front as Ellie and you'll be pretty much dead even on normal..

Come on guys...aise toh all video game/movie characters are overblown...nobody is capable of doing the sh*t that people do in any work of fiction.

 

There is reason why they are called fictitious characters...because they are someone's imaginations.

 

Pretty soon there will be people complaining that all this infection sh*t/clickers/runners/bloaters is not possible so the game does not look real.

 

 

@Ank...what are your thoughts of Drake going one against some 100-200 guys in each game...you think a fully trained combat personnel can easily do that?

In this case also I think there should be an option to play stealth...from what I noticed in this game is that...while playing as any character against any type of opponent...it was never possible to go full on guns blazing...while playing as Ellie, I felt that it was difficult to melee enemies(unless you are undetected)...and I liked the fact that they gave a permanent knife to Ellie...considering her character...which was physically weaker than Joel...that knife she had permanently was a good addition.
