spindoctor
Do they usually have sales like this? I'm guessing I can wait and decide closer to launch date as well. Admittedly not in the know about g2play (or finding the best gaming deals apart from GMG, the occasional MX Origin store foray and Steam) so far, this is pretty much the first time I've heard about the site. Their pricing varies all the time so it's a coin toss as to whether the game will be this cheap again. The site is fine though so you really shouldn't worry about that too much. It comes down to this... if it's a game you were going to buy anyway, then you might as well get it for cheap. It's unlikely that you'll find a much better deal than this at any point before release. sudarsan
I'm interested, but ill keep my excitement low since most of the gameplay looks scripted, not sure i can get the same level of intensity on actual game when i have to deal with campers etc.,
TRMNTR
^^ That's true for any FPS. Which is why there are custom lobbies.
Aftrunner
Reducing the number of campers is easy. Increase player health and remove Aim down the sight mechanic. Both those factors favor the guy who is stationary and gets the first shot off. Problem is no one wants to do it because CoD practically standardized it and no one seems to be able to imagine an FPS any other way.

Aftrunner
Well.... yeah. Every FPS will have some camping, its inevitable. People use to camp in Quake and that game was fast as f**k. But there are ways to reduce camping. Giving a player more health means good players can react to getting shot at from the camper and counter. No ADS means that you dont have to be slowed down (or be stationary) to fire accurately so it lets you return fire without giving the stationary player (i.e. the camper) a significant advantage. It also helps if you spawn weapons around the map so that people cant just drop in with a Shotgun and sit at a corner all game. Having weapons around the map means players are looking to move to get the best firepower rather than spawn with a .50 CAL and go hide far away. A well designed map facilitates movement and discourages camping too. None of those ideas are new. Games like Quake and UT were doing it over a decade ago. Just over the past 6-7 years FPS's have regressed and then stagnated there. No one wants to take a chance because publishers can just point to CoD. Even a game like this which is doing a lot of interesting things is still beholden to the same mechanics that CoD has standardized. Well, ok, in this case its understandable cause these guys made CoD. But point still stands.

Ned.
.. and remove Aim down the sight mechanic. That's a little weird. Al though I like playing Counter-Strike, but I still think 'Aim down the sight' is a good thing. And I don't get it how it will reduce the campers. There are campers in CS too right? Aftrunner
But Counter Strike DOES increases your accuracy if you are stationary and zoomed in. Its not quite ADS like CoD/etc in that you arent looking down the sights of a gun but it is most definitely sharing some ideas. Any FPS which penalizes your accuracy in a significant manner if you are moving is adhering to a lot of the same design principles as ADS. Dont get me wrong, I am not saying one mechanic is better or worse. There is no objective way to say that. I am saying though, that some mechanics promote certain kind of gameplay. ADS with low health lends itself nicely to camping.
