Kinda bummed that the Beta ran out and the Icon turned grey in Origin. :P

I think the biggest problem they will have with longevity is gonna be the number of Player vs Player fights this game has. There have been way too many games where I (or whoever) the top player in the team was had about 8 player kills and 3-4 deaths. That translates to about 15 PvP fights per game for the top finishing players. Players at the bottom are probably about 2/3 of that. The rest is fighting cannon fodder grunts. That is way WAY too low IMO. A normal game of Halo/CoD an average player would have 10-12 kills and 10-12 deaths.

I get why the grunts are there and I am ok with them being brain dead cannon fodder but either the maps need to be smaller or the number of players need to go up. Because the number of times you are fighting another player is way too less for any competitive game.

The game is reducing PvP encounters and filling that space up with bots. Its not going to affect the mid and low skill level players much since they still feel like they are still contributing. But I can easily see people who play MP to go up against other humans being bored by it in the long run.

I dunno, maybe its just the Beta maps.

I think the grunts start reducing as the game progresses. At first spawn you can get many kills, but finding grunts after that is an exercise. Plus Spectres come in and trying to get them leaves you exposed to other pilots. I found even killing 30-40 grunts doesn't really contribute to your score much compared to those who go for 8-10 pilot kills.

But yeah, getting pilot kills is not easy mainly cos of the few numbers... hope they have a free-for-all deathmatch or king of the hill someday.

^^Part of the reason it "feels" hectic is because of the bots. All MP games have some downtime, parts where you arent fighting someone but just moving around the map looking for teammates/enemies or weapons or better positioning. Titanfall's bots mean that you can turn in any direction and ALWAYS find something to shoot at. So there is very little downtime and it feels like you are in a fight every single second of the game you are in.

But a large part of that is just fighting bots. I dont mind that, I just want there to be less of that and more of human players. Reduce the number of bots by half and make the game 8v8. But the problem then is they also want every player to be able to call in a Titan and you cant exactly do that with 8v8. So I dont know how to fix that.

Of course, most of that is based of the 2 beta maps. So maybe its just a passing feeling.

Wow... the Titanfall bundle ($500) is a really good deal compared to the standard one. Why would anyone wanna buy the standard edition when you can get a $60 game and a month of Live (So essentially like $440 for the Console+Kinect) included for the same price?

THE BUNDLE AND PRICE DROP IS GOOD NEWS FOR EA

The real winner of this situation, outside from the patient gamers who will get a much better deal than those who bought at launch, has to be EA.

IT'S HARD TO FIND A PR WIN IN ANY ADVERTISEMENTS THAT DEAL WITH COST.

Microsoft has gone to great lengths to include Titanfall in its marketing materials, and now the game is going to be given another huge push as a pack-in with the hardware itself. Microsoft keeps paying for the game. The company wrote what was likely a large check to make the game exclusive. Microsoft is now offering EA more guaranteed sales with this pack-in promotion, and is cementing the connection between Microsoft platforms and Titanfall. This only increases the value of a multiplatform sequel, which means the cost for exclusivity for any possible sequels has also gone up.

Call of Duty is closely tied to the Xbox platform due to exclusivity deals with the DLC, and that game was widely available on other platforms, but the push forTitanfall's dominance is something else altogether. Microsoft is used to paying for greater mindshare when it comes to third-party games, but it's going all-in withTitanfall's exclusivity, and now this pack-in.

This promotion will almost certainly move the needle when it comes to retail sales, but it also proves just how important this multiplayer shooter has become for Microsoft. EA has basically guaranteed adoption for a new IP, and Microsoft is willing to get out the checkbook to lock down a game it needs before Sony widens the sales gap. Both companies get something they want.

Let's break this down to its component pieces, because it's good news for just about everyone involved. The Xbox One may be outpacing the sales of the Xbox 360 historically, but Sony is outselling that number by what looks to be a decent margin. This pack-in and regional price drop will help move the hardware, and will help promote a system exclusive. Players will get a better deal on hardware, and EA has help launching one of the more exciting new games in recent memory. This is why competition is a great thing: New Xbox One owners will benefit nicely from Sony's sales lead... and EA's not doing too badly either.

NA as well ? So they dropped that Titanfall console bundle that leaker posted a mockup and went with this. This is great value, and surely will move a lot but looking at recent developments with that remote being offered as a new accessory now and E3 not far away, the inevitable might just happen. They soooo want to keep the kinect intact. This game's commercial success will give them a fair idea at how the average consumer's viewpoint is.

It'll be interesting to see how the bundle fares outside America. Amercians will lap it up for sure, but by all accounts, Microsoft's plan to bundle FIFA 14 with the console in Europe has failed. There's also talk of EA being back in talks with Sony for future FIFA partnerships. So if FIFA didn't get Xbox One the sales, I wonder how much success Titanfall will have.

Fifa has always been preferred more on the Playstation than the xbox since the ps2, So it doesnt come as much of a surprise.

Whereas TF being an exclusive will have a much greater impact. I sure lot of people were holding off from buying the xbone till this game was released.

Infact this bundle is very tempting for me too, sad its not officially available here otherwise would have definitely picked one up. I hope they release a halo bundle now in october.

Not really. Sales have been pretty even for FIFA over the years, with PS3 only holding a slight edge (55:45 or 60:40 split). It's the sort of advantage Xbox probably should have wiped out with this sort of bundle, especially considering how massive FIFA is in Europe. It's consistently number 1 on the UK charts even now with GTAV, COD, BF4 etc out there (only recently displaced by LEGO Movie Videogame, but it should be back at no. 1 soon enough).

But FIFA (and forza) were given away with only the preorders of day one edition right? After the release no such scheme was there. This isn't the case with titanfall bundle.

I'd be very surprised if EA would be okay with MS offering Titanfall for free endlessly. This is surely a limited time bundle, as all bundles are (especially third party bundles). MS is definitely not paying EA as much as EA would have made if they sold the game standalone.

There's also retail to consider. EA bundling TF with the console means retail is deprived of the software margins they would get from the sales of a blockbuster game. Hardware margins are far lower than software so retailers lose out when TF is bundled with the console.

Its a good move by MS. BUT I have a feeling that people who wanted to buy it on X1 had already bought one. Titanfall was probably the deciding factor for choosing X1 over PS4 back at launch. There would be a small bump in sale, but since its being released on 360 and PC it will definitely hurt the XB1.

And XB1 console with no TF skin..no TF controller..wtf MS...but if I hadnt bought a XB1 already..I would be all over this bundle.

I'm not sure about that. People who want it for Titanfall will probably buy it with Titanfall. I know I would. I put off my PS4 purchase when Driveclub got delayed. I'll be buying it for Infamous once Infamous is out.

But yeah, the fact that its on 360 may hurt Xbox One prospects. That's probably why they delayed the 360 version by a couple of weeks.

I wonder what Infamous will do for PS4 sales. Not nearly as much hype as TF. Sony really isn't doing a very good job marketing the game.

This is the actual "strategic partnership" that EA dude on stage was talking about at Microsoft's reveal event back in may'13. All these titles which are being offered, FIFA, TF etc may have their royalties waived off on the platform, both retail and digitally. They know this will push systems and have console exclusivity covered with probably a separate stash of $$$. Yeah, I don't see this bundle produced in the masses and they'd flush this out by mid-april. So far 3 regions - Australia, US & UK have this. That's arguably around a million, tops ? Lesser even. What EA would be losing here most that MS hopefully filled their wallets with is not PS4, but the PS3 populace.

A million is wishful thinking for Xbone.

Yup, strategic partnership probably means that Microsoft is waiving its platform owner royalty and probably picking up the marketing expenses, which makes up from some of EA's lost revenue from standalone sales. So Microsoft is basically buying the game from EA and handing it out to its customers, cutting out distributors and retailers.

You & ppl like you have the luxury of waiting for DC/Infm SS or TitanFall release & then buy

Coz you are primarily a PC gamer.....you didn't really need the next Gen upgrade like I did

But console gamers already made the upgrade based on these factors

Coz they also wanted CoD,AC,BF,FIFA.....& they don't have PC to run next Gen. Versions of these

& a lot of these ppl chose XB1 coz it was getting TitanFall in coming months

I wouldn't call waiting three months to buy a console a luxury. Also, me gaming on PC doesn't in any way affect my PS4 or Xbox One purchase. Even if I only owned a PS3, I'd still see no reason to buy a PS4 before Infamous.

Infamous is never going to be or intended to be a system seller in the same vein as Titanfall. Sony probably had much bigger hopes on Shadowfall than Second Son. However, it will likely have a long tail of retail sales so a Sony boffin would probably like to keep upfront costs on the game to a minimum in order to mark up a profit as the sales rack up over time.
