Battlefront is matchmaking-only to ensure "fair and even playground"

Most succinct reply, summing it up,

The implication here is that for some reason you can't have matchmaking and a server browser exist at the same time, which of course is absolute BS. The beauty of a properly implemented server browser (along with community-hosted servers) is that it can allow communities to take control of their gaming environments far better than developers ever can. Admins can get rid of disruptive players (griefers, hackers, chat spammers) in real time, which is far superior to any anti-cheat system ever developed.

Further - servers that develop a group of "regulars" also increase the overall skill-levels and teamwork, which makes any team-based FPS simply more fun.

The real truth here is - like every other game DICE/EA has pushed out over the last few years - these guys don't want any long-term communities built around their games anymore. They want built-in obsolescence, so they can keep their customers on the "new sequel every year" treadmill.

Star Wars Battlefront will not use microtransactions (at-least not on launch day)

think it’s younger people, or those more invested in Star Wars than in hardcore shooters, who will really love Battlefront. There are no classes or squads, for example. Sniper rifles are an unlockable ability with several seconds of cooldown after each shot. So are grenades. Your primary weapon can be upgraded to have different values for range or damage, but it’ll still be a variation on a blaster rifle. This weapon can kill stormtroopers or rebels, but it can also damage an AT-ST or a turret—it seems to be a one-size-fits-all gun. This might not please gamers who like a more complicated synergy between players.

I’m increasingly OK with this direction

I found Survival initially enjoyable but it held up quite badly on repeat playthroughs—there didn’t seem to be much of an effort to rejig enemy positions or tactics, so it became a pigeon shoot.

Dropzone is a fun mode because you don’t have to stand particularly close to the pod after you’ve captured it to maintain control. You can pick a hiding spot, wait for players to run in, then shoot them in the back as they try to capture it for themselves. Admittedly I fell afoul of this more than I benefited from it, but I got steadily better, as I did at using my grenades to take out clumps of enemies after figuring out their positions.

The vehicle tokens take a little bit of the sandbox feel out of the game—previously in Pandemic’s Battlefront you could actually go up to a vehicle and take off, a valuable part of the experience that’s now automated.

Dude this is a Star Wars game

this is custom made for n00bies who admire start wars

Don't relate it to Battlefield

Apart from the base design there isn't much reason for Battlefield players to look at this

i might even skip this game & go for Siege & BO3(if campaign gets positive reviews)

i enjoyed both their Betas

Will try this beta but i suspect i'll be buying this game anymore

the initial reveals deliberately tried to make it look like Battlefield....so i got carried away

if they had to gimp it so bad, they should have made it a P2W mobile game.

this is easily the most dumbed down game ever.Probably targeted at the generic CoD xbox sheep.

8gb minimum?

PS4 & Xone only allow 4.5-5gb memory for games rest is reserved for OS.

PC k liye itna high ram requirement ?

Its because the environments a PC is run in. A usual player will have more than just the windows OS running in the bg. The game wont be using the entirety of the 8gigs but their simulations on workaday systems will have indicated that a system with 8gb of ram will make for much smoother gameplay in conjunction with other commonly used programs running in the background (origin client, browsers, firewalls/anti-virus, media players, etc).

Its the cumulative estimate of the RAM required on a regular players pc.

Beta is 10.6 GB only..

Don't be too intimidated by Battlefront's recommended specs

Core i7-990X @ 3.47GHz, 12 GB of RAM, and a Radeon R7 260X

With all graphics settings on 'Ultra' at 1080p, I was getting 30-48 fps. Dropping them down to 'High' and 'Medium' got me between 40-55. On 'Low,' I was hovering just above 60, occasionally dropping below. That's not great, but Battlefront doesn't look totally awful on 'Low.' It's not as crisp, you lose lighting complexity, and there's some annoying geometry pop-in, but it's not like it turns into Dark Forces or anything. The only thing I didn't test is what happens if there are a ton of characters on-screen.
