^ That is my point, smaller teams have implemented better chat systems in-game but DICE cannot do it.

And we are fine with it.

1000 Hours on PC Sir and I have used it. If you have not used it does not mean the feature is useless.

Is it just me or Afty hasn't played with guys he knows, like dudes from IVG for example

I know ppl use VoIP while playing with frnds.

I almost always play with real life friends nowadays and we always use Team speak. Why wouldnt you? Its better and gives you more privacy.

I dont think I have played with IVGians since the ole Xbox 360 Halo 3 days.

Its not that I havent used it (although I havent) its also that I dont even remember it being used by ANYONE. I dont ever remember hearing a random persons voice in BF. If you had told me that BF3 and 4 didnt have ingame voice I totally would believe you. Infact I am still not 100% sure BF does. Thats how useful that feature is. And just because you used it doesnt mean most people (or anyone else) did. Cribbing about ingame voice chat in a 16-40 player game is flat out laughable. CSGO/DOTA/L4D, you might have a point. Here? Get real.

Oh and just to see who is more on the money? Try this, pick any PC stream on Twitch of Battlefield right now. Drink everytime someone random uses in game voice to communicate. I guarantee you, you will sober as a mormon.

I have heard these voices, enough number of times to know when it is some CyKA Blyat nonsense going on and when it is a genuine effort to coordinate.

Maybe you should play better shooters then, if you think 16-40 headcount games will not work well. Try INSURGENCY some day, Red Orchestra or Verdun or maybe even any ARMA title which is running public.

Yes TeamSpeak is better, yes it is clearer but how do you communicate with a person in-game, when you are in the middle of a gun battle with no free hands, is it not easier just to push a single button and hope that their is a cognizant human being on the other end who will understand what you said. Instead of LoL in-game voice support.

As someone who's played the beta, I'll be buying this Day 1. Absolutely loved the experience and I'm glad that the combat isn't based on reaction time like in most PvP shooters that come out these days like Call of Duty where I'm dead before I can even aim. I like how Dice has tried to fix some of the problems that exist in the Battlefield series such as:

1)Camping

As much as I enjoy actual sniping from a distance (as opposed to quick-scoping), there have been many times where 80% of the team nests on a rooftop for the entirety of the match, getting just 1-2 kills in total and not playing the objective. I feel the cycler rifle will provide a good balance. In a perfect world where everybody played properly, we could've had the opportunity to snipe with a scout rifle from the heights of Endor but I would gladly sacrifice that if it means people will play the objective.

2)Vehicle tokens

Players can no longer destroy parked vehicles before anybody can use them, and removing the exit button from starships ensures that pilots won't bail after taking just one hit. Exiting a craft when CRITICAL is exciting but often in Battlefield, pilots bail after taking just a few hits or after reaching their destination. Forcing the players to be in the starships has resulted in pretty sweet dogfights where everybody gives their 100% to stay alive. With the token system, players can no longer camp in the spawn menu, waiting to jump in the second a vehicle spawns. This gives everyone a fair shot at nabbing a vehicle. Granted, people may still camp at the token locations but at least they'll be in the field instead of waiting at the menu screen.

3)Making people play the objective

As epic as Battlefield is, at the end of the day it's essentially a collection of smaller firefights that take place at different parts of the map. With Battlefront, Dice has concentrated the fights at one point a time, ensuring that most of the players are concentrated at that area. Some of the best matches I've played in Battlefield were when the entire squad worked together and followed the orders issued by the leader. But most of the time (on PS4 at least), the squad leaders don't even issue orders. I feel Dice has tried to remedy this by the game issuing one order at a time to the entire team (such as which uplink to defend or when to attack the walkers).

And finally, I absolutely love the dogfights in this game. If nothing else, Fighter Squadron alone will be worth the price for me. Here are a few moments from my time with the Beta:

When the in-game music syncs perfectly:

A really close call with a Tie Fighter:

An entire match in the skies: (Chasing those A-Wings is an incredibly fun challenge!)

Pod defense match (This was a really close match! Both teams were 2-2 and were engaged in a tug-of-war with the last pod in the last 2mins! This shows how amazing Battlefront can be with balanced teams and everybody playing the objective.)

1)Camping

Has now been replaced by a spawn-camping. Almost every Imperial team on the Hoth map was marauding behind the Rebel spawn locations, every single match.

It was bedlam for the Rebels. Getting shot in the back by their own emplacements, AT-AT's raining death on their spawn location, AT-ST's actually standing to greet you with spawn deaths.

The Cycler is a real good example of broken meta of the game, since there are no classes, you pick up three broken cards (which in the BETA's case were, the Cycler, the Thermal Detonator and Personal Shield) and run with it and everyone else on your team runs off the same equipment, basically run around waiting for the cool off timer to tick down while spraying the DL-19 LMG into the nether ahead of you.

2)Vehicle tokens

And players cannot even choose which to pick or not, because

  • They are randomised
  • If you got something you do not want, well tough luck
  • They all spawn so far to the rear of the battle that you have to go back to pick them up in-case the battle has moved up.

I find this vehicle tokens system really, really stupid because it means anyone can pick one up by accident and then either watch it ticks down (essentially wasting it) or get in it and get blown out of the sky or march to their own death (again technically wasting it).

Plus, the control scheme on PC is absolutely rubbish. Surprised because I thought BattleField 4 airplane combat was nigh impossible. And you literally cannot even change the yaw, pitch or roll of your aircraft, much less dog-fight. All you can do is try to slow down, hope the other player is bad enough to overshoot, lock on, rinse-repeat, ad infinium.

Also, the transition into the vehicle itself is terrible, you start flying an aircraft straight into the thick of a furball while you have a black-screen for the first couple of seconds. GG WP if the air is dominated by the other side.

3)Making people play the objective

And you are coming to this conclusion with playing two disparately different game modes on two differently set-up maps.

There is no squad, there are no reliable team wide communication system, there is zero support to get yourself on the same side with your buddies (even if you are in a party).

This game is basically a watered down shooter with a lot of spit and polish to make up for its glaring shortcomings and that is before considering that you have to pay full price, for a fewer number of maps plus premium (which will split the community base) to access future content.

The game is a crying shame for ~$40 (being multi-player only), forget about the complete package price-tag of over ~$120.
