nuf
On a 1 Mbps connection that I use, multiplayer uses almost 30 MB (download) per hour. If I change my BB plan to something higher, lets say 10 mbps, willl the download become 10 times as well. I don't care much for the downloaded bytes now, but with a better connection there is a download cap. So I was wondering how much data cap will I need for online gaming on ps3 on a 10 mbps connection, with an average of 1 hr of gaming a day (max 2 hrs/day). Elixir
Are you sticking to the same game (MP online).??? Coz... It will definitely depend on the game.... Bigger universe/Open world will take the count higher... So depends... Are we talking about Super Mario or BF3.??
nuf
Are you sticking to the same game (MP online).??? Other games as well. This 30 MB was for fifa online pro. How much would BF3 use up. Even for fifa it does seem to vary, from my session history - 19MB in 56 min to 27 MB in 48 min.
Elixir
Well, then it totally is up to the kind of game you are onto.. Also, make sure your Internet Ping time is low.... Otherwise you'll have some serious lags in the game.... I would say stick to a NO FUP connection to be on the safer side if you want to try multiple games online..... or make sure the FUP is high enuff... other wise you'll have a huge bill at your doorstep.... Ping is the reason I wanted to shift to fiber instead of copper wire connection. But the plan affordable for me, would offer 20 GB download limit after which the speed would drop to a miserly 512 kbps (albeit the extra download would not cost extra bucks). Iceman™
512 kbps is fine for mp Sent from my LT22i using Tapatalk
nuf
Thank you so much elixir and iceman. 512 kbps is fine for mp Agreed. 30 MB is a lot less than what 512 kbps can download on full throttle. But if a game does fully use a 10 Mbps connection, then that capped 20 GB would be over in the first few days every month.
Elixir
Dude Stick to your 1/1.5 mbps connection which probably is cap free.... I'd say that's enough...

Surely you can chuck it if too costly. No harm in keeping 2 broadband plans for a month. I have done that. Few extra bucks but peace of mind is there. nuf
Dude Stick to your 1/1.5 mbps connection which probably is cap free.... I'd say that's enough... 1 Mbps is fine otherwise, its just the ping that bothers me, and the frequent disconnection, and the fact that if it rains, the connection breaks, and how can I forget the utterly useless CC. And those service guys also deserve an esteemed mention here. . With fiber, hopefully, my connection would become stable. Nah it wont be hopefully. Try it for a month and monitor usage. Surely you can chuck it if too costly. No harm in keeping 2 broadband plans for a month. I have done that. Few extra bucks but peace of mind is there. that would be very do-able. Only that when I talked to MTNL at sanchar haat, they said its either fiber or BB, can't be both at the same time. Re-requesting for BB (if fiber does'nt go well) can take upto a month to process. So I thought of taking advice here rather than banging my head on the wall they call MTNL later. PS - just hate how airtel never laid BB/phone wires in my area
harjas
i also saw their connection plans ...if they had just given us 1 mpbs after the fup limit on 1290 plan then it would have been awesome .....but i don't think so this would happen

avkash
^^ I think that varies game to game, but to be honest 20 GB dedicated only to gaming should be ok, that is like 800 MB each day, that should be fine
Elixir
^ ^ True.... DEDICATED 20 GB is fine for online... but if its a common connection for everything.. den its a problem....

ALPHA17
How to check whether that internet service provider giving low pings or not if ping is so important for MP gaming Here. And find out about the ISP's performance in that department at the earliest from your friends, family, neighbours.
Elixir
Its basically checking the ping response between the local and the network host... Do it with the help of an online agent like speedtest, they give you a full report.. or you can check with ipconfig/all... or use ping with the network host IP adress... Read everything, that'll take a while, i want to get to MP for PS4, and PC for some games. thanks man Its basically checking the ping response between the local and the network host... I already have a plan but only for daily surfing usage though it give 2 mpbs, as per ping test i get a D grade , which is very bad for MP i think planning to get another one which could give me better MP experience i.e No Lag even i connect anywhere
