Nvidia launches GeForce GTX 760 in India for Rs. 19,499

Recommended Posts

GTX 760 is very good card for it's price.

Agreed, for gaming nothing comes close.

But if you do anything else apart from gaming, are a design freelancer / animator or use applications which need COMPUTE on a double precision scale then the HD series is the better bet.

Err, no. Crysis 3 is Origin key and Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon is Uplay key.

In India, only MD Computers is giving these keys for the Never Settle bundle.

  • For HD78** series it is -- BioShock INFINTE and DmC (both STEAM)
  • For HD79** series it is -- Crysis III (ORIGIN), INFINITE and Blood Dragon (UPlay!)

Refer to link posted earlier. Cheerio!

^^ Most of the differences are 1 fps, this is hardly enough to call a win.

Anyway, suit yourself and get the card you want, you cannot go wrong with either for gaming.

Even now HD 7950 > 760 > HD 7870. So i guess AMD is covered - especially with their games bundle.

thanx..If HD 7950 boost version is cheaper then i will go with AMD....if both are same then GTX 760 ftw...

So you decided not to read the posts below that? 760 is a better VFM card than the 7950. Also,

The boost version is atleast $50 costlier than the 760.(i think ?)

Outside India it depends from where you source it from, although with mail-order rebates and other such schemes the cards come down to the same cost (~$5 here or there).

In India there is a solid line, the cheapest GTX760 (online) ~20500/- and the cheapest HD7950 ~24300/-, so rather easy to determine which is cheaper.

And the boost version?

The boost version is the one I am talking about, that comes in for ~24500/- in India.

Abroad it clocks in closer to ~$280 -->$330, depending on brand and other sundry matters.

sap vapor-x 7950 can be brought little bit cheaper then above price with local shops around 22-23k

also cheapest 760 gtx is a vanilla card which hits 80 degrees if not more on indian climate, biggest factor going to be overclocking vaporx or dual-x version can reach 7970 level

same can't be said about a vanilla 760 gtx......

this is not actually great time to buy a graphics card, especially with newer games like crysis 3/metro last light are giving 30-40 fps when maxed out on a 1080p,then there is MSAA and other AA stuff,it would be better to wait for amd 8xxx series cards or else get an 770 gtx for 30-31k more value for money then 760 gtx

Agreed, street pricing on both cards will be much more favourable to the customer.

Also agreed that the standard GTX760 is not the best card to have. And ZOTAC! and ASUS custom cooler editions are more expensive.

But the over-clocking equation is where you go of the mark, the HD7950 after tinkering hits the performance of an HD7970. The stock GTX760 comes close to the GTX670 with a good piece of silicon except for bandwidth limited games you will touch GTX680 levels of performance which is not bad and all this with a much smaller TDP footprint vis-á-vis the HD7950 / 7970.

There is never a great time to get hardware, something better is always on the horizon. But you got to pause somewhere and make a move.

A GTX760 is a great card to get for ~20000/-, you won't regret it. Not for two years from now at-least.

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-radeon-hd-7950-review

Interesting article i read. Says that with the launch of new gen consoles with 8GB unified RAM - game developers might start tending towards using lots of RAM -> therefore cards with 3GB GDDR5 like HD7970 & HD7950 might just become a more interesting future ready choice.

With the Asus GT760 & Sapphire HD7950 both retailing for around 23-24k - i guess its a personal call with both cards giving 99% similiar performance.

HD7970 and HD7950 already exhibit better performance at multi-monitor set-ups and in games where the overall demand for memory bandwidth is felt and the GTX660Ti and GTX760's 192-bit memory interface falls short.

Compared to the GTX670 and above cards where such disparity is not felt between the memory and the bandwidth at tap, the performance is equalised.

7950 Boost or 760 : which will age, scale, overclock better?

Depending on silicon both over-clock well. Although I would say that the HD7950 has a more proven track record.

Both cards are equally good for the future of PC games because non of the next-generation games have come out save ARMA III (add any other you feel is next-generation).

In scaling the AMD card holds the edge in resolution because of the higher bus-width (384-bit vs. 192-bit on the GTX760) and more V-RAM available on tap.

I would keep using my HD6850 for as long as possible, save that money, for BattleField 4 and jewellery. =P
