ALPHA17
Err, bit confused again. So, what's the major advantage of 27" inch with 1080p over 24" inch with 1080p? Other than physical size. Pixel density is the major up. Depending on the panel type, colour accuracy also goes up. Need an Apple display, cheap. Achieva Shimian / Catleap's are your best bet. Pay additional $30 and get a guarantee of zero dead pixels. Next is the higher resolution, the higher up we go on the resolution scale, greater the pixel density and lesser need of expensive performance eating filters like Anti-Aliasing to get smooth images. Also, the higher resolution is going to be the calling, right now PC is pushing multi-monitor set-up, maybe in the future we can have a single super-size panel instead of multiple. Thereby, lesser power consumption no breaks in the images lesser parts for the same task At-least this is how the situation presents itself to me. Hope this helps, Cheerio! mango_man
Congratulations man and sorry about the final PM, I could not muster anything. Anyway glad that you are happy with the purchase, enjoy. Since you went for 27" inch monitor, why didn't you go for 1440p? Just asking to know your views on it. (won't 1080p be just scaled to 27" inch monitor? I mean, I have 24" inch running on 1080p, it'll be same on 27" inch monitor without any advantage, NO?) Oh and congrats, specs look great. Nice buy aman! Alpha you really are amazing
mango_man
Congratulations man and sorry about the final PM, I could not muster anything. Anyway glad that you are happy with the purchase, enjoy. No problem bro.. I figured as much But you indeed have been a great help. Btw new 'new help needed thread coming up in a few minutes... this time for 2 new components Since you went for 27" inch monitor, why didn't you go for 1440p? Just asking to know your views on it. (won't 1080p be just scaled to 27" inch monitor? I mean, I have 24" inch running on 1080p, it'll be same on 27" inch monitor without any advantage, NO?) Oh and congrats, specs look great. To answer in one sentence, I didnt go for 1440p cuz of its price. Now to elaborate- First of all let me tell you that 1080p on a 27inch is still very very good. I mean unless you peep into the monitor from an inch's distance you wont see jagged lines. I sit 1-1.5 or even 2 feet from the monitor and the picture is brilliant. Pixel density is pretty neat. Now to be very honest I became a bit money minded while making the purchase. Some serious thought went into 'price to performance' consideration. I got this AOC monitor which is IPS and voted the best 27incher 1080p monitor recently- for just 19000. If I wanted a 1440p I had very few options sitting in India and all were upwards of 40k, any less than 40k and I had to compromise either on the IPS panel or the 1440p or hdmi ports etc. This AOC monitor has 2 hdmi ports and AUX in/out. Serves for my pc and ps3. 27 inch because i like to sit/lie far away on the couch/bed when i'm watching movies. Otherwise would have gone for 24inch. Also, to do 1440p and ultra high settings in pc games i'd need a monstrous rig with probably crossfire gpu's or the likes of 7970/680... I have a moderate 7950. And 1080p is good enough for me since being a console gamer till 4 months ago has made me love even 720p Also, 1440p wont be supported by next gen consoles viz PS4 AFAIK... next gen consoles will be all bout 1080p at 60fps with breathtaking visuals. So, my rigg cant handle 1440p gaming and ps4 wont do 1440p so its no use spending 40k on a monitor just so i can browse the web and use microsoft word at 1440p Nice buy aman! Alpha you really are amazing cheers man

pArth
bumping this thread since I am buying a similar monitor. so is AOC 27" - I2757FH still the best monitor under 20k or there other better choices. I am looking for the best monitor i can get < 20k . Main use will be - PC, ps3, ps4
ALPHA17
^^ Pretty much the only option, unless you are willing to shell out a bit more cash and get a Catleap or Shimian panel from eBay. Updise, best colour accuracy in a tight budget, 8-bit IPS panel, wide viewing angles. Downside, no warranty and HDMI OUTPUT. Hope this helps, Cheerio! mango_man
bumping this thread since I am buying a similar monitor. so is AOC 27" - I2757FH still the best monitor under 20k or there other better choices. I am looking for the best monitor i can get < 20k . Main use will be - PC, ps3, ps4 long time bro So yea, this was the best monitor when I bought it in july of this year after all the research. There was a Viewsonic monitor that was a close second though in the same price range(forgot the name, go on the website and check), but it had just one HDMI which is a big bummer for obvious reasons. Let me tell you a few cons of this monitor- -some backlight bleed in corners(more visible at 100% brightness). but wont notice until the image on screen is too dark. Also, you'll get used to it (its a common problem in most monitors, at least at this price range) -touch buttons absolutely suck and they are placed in such a place that its awkward to access them.. also they arent clearly visible or well textured so ur fingers can spot them without looking(but there's a PC app for this monitor that lets you access most tweaking options, so thats a savior) -No sharpness setting(atleast I couldnt find).. but you wont miss it much, its not like things are blur..just that it would have been nice to tinker with it -no remote control -the 3.5mm aux sound output via the monitor is not of the greatest quality (atleast on paper).. i think its 16bits instead of 24bits that pc can output.. i dont really understand the meaning of this to be honest -27" is not ideal for pc gaming from a close distance(using mouse n kb).. when i play bf4 it sometimes becomes awkward.. i got used to it though.. still 24" would be ideal. BUt then again, you can adjust and its not too big a deal. We need the 27" to use with consoles and watch movies etc from a distance. -build quality could have been tad bit better but hey at least it looks good Everything else you can imagine are pros for this monitor. Picture quality, good enough pixel density, hardly any noticeable pixelation evn while sitting close, quiet, 2 hdmi, easy switching, ample image tweaking, slim, good looking, ips, great contrast and colors at this price etc etc The only thing you should make sure before buying this, is to check if a new AOC i27 model is releasing in the near future or if any other better monitors have been released by any other brand (check viewsonic too) in the past 6 months, which was when I bought this. Pro tip- Buy a monitor wit at least 2 HDMI inputs. Unless you rarely use a PC.
pArth
Thanks for the reply. That really helped. How is the speaker sound? Also, what is the best 24" monitor? I feel 27 would be too big to for using the PC.
SpearHea:D
Yea go for 24" or 27" but not more than that . I have hooked my 42" led to my pc and it just doesnt looks right on pc . Whenever i see smaller 24" monitor in cafe they look like 17" and i have have hard time adjusting to them . IMO anything more than 27" is overkill for pc but i am enjoying games like castlevania and RAGE , looks absolutely phenom .

ALPHA17
How is the speaker sound? Tiny. Better if you hook up your headsets to them instead. Also, what is the best 24" monitor? I feel 27 would be too big to for using the PC. Any suggestions on 24 inch IPS monitors? Game on a 27" and then come up with that, honest. Anyway if you have space constraints, these are your options (both IPS), DELL Ultrasharp U2412M ASUS PA246Q Hope this helps, Cheerio! IMO anything more than 27" is overkill for pc but i am enjoying games like castlevania and RAGE , looks absolutely phenom . Bro, do you 1440p? mango_man
Thanks for the reply. That really helped. How is the speaker sound? Also, what is the best 24" monitor? I feel 27 would be too big to for using the PC. Dude, wait. OK firstly the speakers on the AOC i27 are non existent. U'll hardly hear it even from 2 feet, so external (3.5mm) speakers are a must. Now, I strongly suggest not going for a 24". What do you plan on doing on the PC? The only (slight) problem u'll have on a 27" is when you play fast and intense MP of FPS games with mouse and keyboard, cuz its frantic in MP. FOR EVRYTHING ELSE, word/excel/animation/editing/SP gaming/console gaming/movies/browsing/etc you will love the 27". This was the point I was trying to make, I guess I scared you off. But really, Anything below 27" is just boring for consoles/work/movies. Your best bet is to checkout a 27" monitor in a store, sit infront of it and get a vibe. Again, the hindrances on a 27" PC monitor are negligible compared to its merits. P.S. 2 HDMI ports is a must.
pArth
hmm Yeah, the AOC I2757FH looks like the best option, considering the 24" options that alpha gave are the same price or more expensive. Plus, Dell ultrasharp one doesnt have HDMI. I used a 27" for the past 2 years when I was in US and I am using a 22" tv at the moment ( ) so yeah I know.. playing FPS on the 27" from close was kinda hard, Whats the best place to buy the AOC I2757FH from?
