Bird Bird Bird Posted September 30, 2010 Report Share Posted September 30, 2010 Opening up isn't tough. Did the same for my PS3 couple of days back. Best of all had to open it up when my net was down, so no Youtube guides. But it's pretty easy !!.. On the right hand side you have a small rubber arrest at the top. Remove it. Then unscrew the cover & slide it open. Once removed, you will see the innards again protected by a black top. There are 6 screws AFAIR. Remove all of them & make sure you remember which goes where. 5 are similar & the 6th ones smaller (goes in the middle). Be careful while removing this as a cable is attached to the underside. Don't snap it off. Once the inside cover is off, PS3 lies naked in all it's glory. Drive is on the LHS. You will need a teeny weeny screw driver to open the damn thing. But be really really careful while removing the ribbon cable. I recommend using a tweezer to remove it as it's very delicate & can give away easily. Remove all the screws from the top part of the drive & voila ! it's open !!.. If you aren't comfortable, just search "PS3 disassembly guide" & "PS3 drive error repair" on youtube. If you have the bill then take to the nearest sony entre and avail the 50% discount thingy, or else since u appear to be from delhi take it to palika bazaar and let the professionals handle it maybe ur needs to be changed. My RDR disc was stuck inside when my PS3 got ylod.I was able to remove the disc by 1)press the power switch at the back 2)press and hold eject and stand by button simultaneously for a few seconds 3)now try ejecting the disc i know your problem is different but you could try it out Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

My ps3 died on me during a thunderstorm I've been using my PS3 with surge protector only. It's a Belkin Superior Series one ,don't know how effective it but no problem till now. Touch wood.. That will take you to your router settings page . Click on security and you should be able to change your key. To get your ip address look under your modem it may be listed there like mine but if not just type in google the make of your and put next to it ip address. Someone will let you know what it is . isaac_clark Posted October 21, 2010 Report Share Posted October 21, 2010 hey ... hav a problem with my ps3 ..... basically it does not read blu-ray discs as in it give me the ' eject ' sound when i put it in ..... although wit some games if i keep tryin by restarting it for around 10 times n then inserting the disc some games work but most dont .... i dunno its really irritationg listenin to tat ' heavy sound ' which u get when u eject a disk ... although it reads my movie dvds fine so i dont think its a laser problem ..... pls pls pls can someone help me cause sony wont help me for sure i went to their service center in banaglore n they said cause i bought it in dubai it can only be serviced over there ... even paid service is not done n they wont even give me advice when i told them abt the problem .... its still under warranty cause i jus got it 6 months back ... also it cant be a problem of overheating cause i dont play that often too i formatted everything still doesnt help ...... so think its a hardware problem so if any of u had similar compaints or know how to fix this plssssssss help me out Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
dabba Posted October 21, 2010 Report Share Posted October 21, 2010 blinking red light.... ylod... but then u say it started working... keep using it till it conks i say.... in fact use it more... so taht if it has to conk it conks within warranty... also they take a lot of time for the replacement (based on ivg members experience)... when it is not working... so no point in taking it to them while it still works (a. they will not know what to do with it... since it is still working b. they dont repair the console just send it n for replacement c. they dont really know jack)....
