thedarkrider
I placed my PS3 (Slim, not super slim) in my TV cabinet, in a rather poorly ventilated section. It became very hot after just half an hour of playing, and the fan was very loud as well. I have an option of placing it vertically there itself, or maybe even in the open (not enclosed). My query : is it okay to place the console vertically, or is the horizontal placement preferred? Pros/cons of both? A friend of mine keeps it vertically for the last one and a half years...no problem till now...use a simple product like this : http://www.ebay.in/itm/Elegant-Vertical-Simple-Base-Stand-Cradle-Holder-For-Sony-PS3-Slim-White-/380476528631?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_203&hash=item58962b17f7 Never keep in a closed environment..i used to suffer overheating and once or twice randomly shut down
piper
Alright. A bit of random googling showed people prefer to place the Slim horizontally rather than vertically, due to possibility of issues with the BD drive. But if I place it horizontally it will not fit in the cabinet. Aesthetics vs. functionality, FML.

piper
Component cable will give you same quality as HDMI I guess (my friend is using that with his HD TV). Composite will give only 480p, though.

AtheK
Nothing just change the setting on your console to 720p, maybe a faulty cable.

Stevie G
Tried the component wire and Fifa looks almost identical at 1080i Only issue is that Blu rays and particular the dark scenes look very dark but overall it's a decent short term fix while I raise cash for a new PS Thanks All
saanil
Hi Guys, I will be giving my PS3 to fix an HDMI issue and I wanted to take back up of the game progress so that when I get my PS3 I can start the games from where I left off. Can some one please guide me how to do it? Can I take the data on to a pen-drive? Please tell me how.
Aloy
yes,you can take your save game files on a pen drive.just insert it in the usb port of the ps3.then go to save game menu under the game section on your ps3.there you will get the option to save the files onto your pen drive. and then it's done. Dbz_479
Hey guys,a small query. My PS3 is having trouble with Wi-Fi connection. It barely receives the signal nowadays and my online playability is severely hampered(game disconnects in the midst of a match, poor matchmaking etc).I don't know if it's the router or my PS3 gone old, since my router works well with other wi-fi devices. When i asked a friend,He suggested me to get a new router. My doubt is will changing a router improve my online performance?if not what can i do improve it?My connection is 2Mbps. please help.... saanil
Ok so a wierd thing. Recently I had mentioned that the HDMI port on my PS3 was not working. I was not sure if the port is the issue or the cable. So today I took it to a Sony Service Centre and they checked it there with my HDMI cable and it worked! I came home and tried it on my TV and again the HDMI is not working. I called up Sony and they told me that they would not be able to help me any further - I will have to contact the TV manufacturer i.e. LG in my case. However one thing I have noticed is that now the resolution on my PS3 using the normal AV cables is 540 (earlier it was 420 I think). The display has greatly improved. I am not sure what happened but I did play around some of the settings and somehow I got clearer picture. But the issue still remains. I guess it is possible that some HDMI cables are not compatible with LG. Can it be the case?
