thedarkrider
Ok so a wierd thing. Recently I had mentioned that the HDMI port on my PS3 was not working. I was not sure if the port is the issue or the cable. So today I took it to a Sony Service Centre and they checked it there with my HDMI cable and it worked! I came home and tried it on my TV and again the HDMI is not working. I called up Sony and they told me that they would not be able to help me any further - I will have to contact the TV manufacturer i.e. LG in my case. However one thing I have noticed is that now the resolution on my PS3 using the normal AV cables is 540 (earlier it was 420 I think). The display has greatly improved. I am not sure what happened but I did play around some of the settings and somehow I got clearer picture. But the issue still remains. I guess it is possible that some HDMI cables are not compatible with LG. Can it be the case? Its the HDMI cable issue.. buy the red gear one..its a bomb.. saanil
The one I bought was for 250 bucks I guess - I know its a cheap one. I was told that any HDMI cable would do, so no need to buy one for 1000 bucks. WIll try another cable and check. Buying a new cable is not an issue - The thing is - I want to be sure to buy one which will be compatible with the LG TV. I know HDMI does not have manufacturer specific requirements but since I already have cable which is not working with LG, I do not want to waste some more money. Any one here having a LG LED TV and using the HDMI? Please let me know which brand cable are you using.
Razpor
^You dont need to get 1000 bucks cable, any normal cable will do,you got a bad cable . Maybe another cable of the same brand would do too who knows... Get a new cable, its highly unlikely that ps3 or tv hdmi port is at fault.

VelivolusDas
Just connect your PS3 to your HDTV via HDMI only and then while your PS3 is on standby mode (indicator shows red) press and hold the power button for a few seconds... I think about 3 or 5 seconds (I'm not sure as I had done this quite a few years ago... You should hear a second beep.... And then, you should get a message saying that an HDMI signal has been detected..... And you should be able to continue with your settigs... I just connect the PS3 to the TV via HDMI. When the red light is on, I press the power button till I hear the 2nd beep. However when I switch the TV input to HDMI all I get is NO SIGNAL. Since I do not get anything on TV for 2-3 mins, I take the AV Cables and plug it in. Now I switch the TV input to AV. Then I get a screen saying "HDMI input has been detected. Do you want output through HDMI?". I select yes and then switch the TV input to HDMI - again "NO SIGNAL". One thing I have noticed. Even while playing on AV, I keep the HDMI cable connected to the TV, the metal part at the end of the cable (which is put into the PS3) gets very hot - Is it because it is actually being used or it it just because of the heat emission? saanil
Also in the current display via AV cables, I do not get an option of setting resolution. All I get is setting up the aspect ratio: 16:9 or 4:3. Which is better? Why am I not getting any option to set resolution?
Razpor
How old is your ps3 ??? Now that you have tried multiple cables.I suspect your problem may be in the TV or the console itself.Have you tried using some bluray player or any othe hdmi device on your tv ??? Does it work? abhi90
While the tv is on and when the ps3 is off, you get a "no signal or something" when you turn on the ps3, does the error code change, like " no signal found or something" Even a change of word? My PS3 is just 6 months old. I do not think it is the console. I have taken the console to a service center and it is working there (With the same HDMI cable I have). Now the only cause I think is the TV. The issue is how do I check what the issue with the TV is? TATA SKY HD is working fine on the TV. I am just not able to comprehend what am I doing wrong While the tv is on and when the ps3 is off, you get a "no signal or something" when you turn on the ps3, does the error code change, like " no signal found or something" Even a change of word? No - there is no chnage of word. I get NO SIGNAL only.

saanil
That sounds really very strange! Which part of Mumbai do you stay in? I stay in Goregaon (W). I see that you too are from Bombay. Where exactly are you located? Yeah - the issue is strange. Not able to rectify a problem is one thing but here I do not even know what the issue is. abhi90
Do one thing, first of all disconnect all wires (power, hdmi, av etc) from ps3 for about an hour, then connect everything and try again,
saanil
Do one thing, first of all disconnect all wires (power, hdmi, av etc) from ps3 for about an hour, then connect everything and try again, Well I tried that - Though I did not wait for an hour, I disconnected everything and reconnected after 4-5 mins. I even removed HDMI cable for TATA SKY and tried.
